Naomie Harris has alleged that during an audition, a huge star groped her in the presence of the casting director and director, but no one said anything. The ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ star also mentioned that she feels lucky to have experienced such a thing only once given the number of sexual assaults reported in the industry.

Harris opened about her unpleasant experience with The Mail on Sunday’s 'You' magazine as she accused an identified “huge, huge star” of placing his hand up her skirt during an audition. She said, “What was so shocking about it was the casting director was there and the director, and of course no one said anything because he was he is... such a huge star. That was my only #MeToo incident, so I felt very lucky given how rife that behaviour was.”

“Now things have definitely changed,” the ‘James Bond’ actress noted before adding: “I was on a project where there was a #MeToo incident and there was no hesitation… (the perpetrator) was immediately removed.”

During the interview, Harris also spoke frankly about Black Lives Matter. She said, “I’d hope there’s greater awareness [of race issues] now. But obviously injustices still happen every day.” She went on to give the example of her 2021 movie ‘Swan Song’ that starred Black actors, including her, in leading roles. “That’s a prime example of the changes happening,” she stated.

Harris’ story has gained a lot of attention online as people went on to show support to the ‘Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom’ star. Some also asked her to name and shame the culprit. A user tweeted, “It's sickening, and I'm sorry you went through that, good for you, we need to keep reporting when certain rank individuals do us a #metoo.” The second one wrote, “I really wish people would put the people who cross that line. It’s pointless to say it happened to you, when the perpetrators are out there, God knows doing only what.” The third user wrote, “Horrible thing to happen and now all the men she's worked with are now under going to be speculated at the person who did this to her. I hope she can name this person and the director at some point.”

A person advised Harris, “Yes it’s quite upsetting nobody did anything but it was you, Naomie, who should have kicked him hard where it hurts. Then you should have publicized his name. Doesn’t matter if he wins the defamation suit, his reputation would be tarnished. Name him, Naomie!” “Naomie Harris says a 'huge star' groped her during an audition: 'No one said anything'. Stop keeping their names a fucking secret. It only makes you look guilty,” another one suggested. While a user added: “Social media is a proper cesspit. Article gets posted about Naomie Harris getting groped, and the comments are just bullshit about why she didn't say anything sooner and how she's saying it now for attention. Y'all don't understand how hard it is to admit what happened for some.”
