'Nancy Drew' won't be airing this week, but here is everything you can expect when it is back
Spoilers for Season 1 Episode 9 of 'Nancy Drew' titled 'The Hidden Staircase'
'Nancy Drew' won't be airing tonight. The CW show is now on a fall break and will be returning next year. What we do know is that the spirits of Horseshoe Bay don't wish to leave Nancy or anyone from the Drew Crew alone.
In the last episode 'The Hidden Staircase', Tiffany Hudson's (Sinead Curry) murder took a backseat as Nancy (Kennedy McMann must investigate Ted's (Ariah Lee) kidnapping, which eerily resembles the one she solved at the age of 12.
This mystery, minus 'Nancy Drew's foray into the supernatural, is a proper mystery to solve, which already one-ups several previous episodes from Season 1.
The episode is perhaps the most emotional one so far. The hunt for Ted leads Nancy and her father Carson Drew (Scott Wolf) to an abandoned warehouse, where Nancy confronts her past — reliving the trauma that she had buried deep within her a long time ago.
The episode is also noteworthy because it finally gives Nancy and her father a chance to connect.
After spending an entire season distant from each other, or perhaps since the time that Nancy's mother died, and embroiled in constant arguments, Nancy, who had refused to be vulnerable all this while, finally lets her guard down and talks to her father.
By the end of the episode, Nancy and the Drew Crew manage to find Ted back to safety. Nick (Tunji Kasim) and George (Leah Lewis) solve the mystery to find Ted.
When they find her, they share a look that we all know all too well — setting the stage for something to happen between them. When we asked Tunji about the possibility of George and Nick getting together, and while he simply teased, "Keep watching!", we reckon that is answer speaks a lot.
We also get the news that Ace (Alex Saxon) is out of coma and that Bess (Madison Jaizani) is going to take a DNA test to find the truth about her identity. Is she a Marvin?
We can't tell for sure when the show will return but IMDb lists the next tenth episode as upcoming on January 15, 2020. But 'Nancy Drew' will be back with the same old Drew Crew and new mysteries.
