MANCHESTER, NEW HAMPSHIRE: The mother of murdered Harmony Montgomery shared memories of the girl at a vigil on Sunday, October 29. Harmony's body has not been found but her father Adam was charged with her death. Her mother, Crystal Sorey, has mostly stayed away from the media until now. Harmony was reported missing last November.

"Sweet, kind, funny. Oh god, that girl could talk," said Sorey, according to CBS News. Sorey addressed a small crowd that gathered in Manchester, New Hampshire. Memories were shared and hugs were exchanged.

Who is Kayla Montgomery? Slain 5-year-old's stepmom told cops estranged husband killed daughter

Chilling details of Harmony Montgomery’s father Adam's 2019 interrogation emerge after arrest

"Her whole room was Minnie Mouse. She had a four-foot Minnie Mouse doll in her room," Sorey recalled, wearing a Minnie Mouse costume as a way to honor her daughter. "I wanted to come here like this to represent something that makes her happy."

"People are coming together. All over Manchester people are coming together," said one man. "It is no longer about who did what, it's about what should've been done," another supporter said.

"All the good memories are in Haverhill and Boston," Sorey said. "So we just want to close this chapter on New Hampshire because nothing good happened here for her." Sorey reported Harmony missing last year but investigators believe the little girl was last seen in 2019. At the time, she was five years old and in the custody of her father, Adam Montgomery.

Adam took custody of Harmony in February 2019 and is her biological father. The Sun reported that Harmony's biological mother, Sorey, became concerned about her daughter's safety and called Manchester police on November 11, 2021. Sorey told police that she saw Harmony for the last time in the background of an Easter 2019 FaceTime call with Adam. Adam later cut off ties with Sorey and the family. Adam allegedly imposed severe punishments on Harmony when she was five, including "bashing her around the house" and forcing her to scrub the toilet with her toothbrush. During a drug relapse, Adam allegedly made Harmony stand in the corner for hours. Adam is also accused of once shooting a man in the head, and was subsequently jailed.

Adam has now been charged with second-degree murder. He is accused of killing her by repeatedly striking her with a closed fist. Kayla Montgomery, Harmony's stepmother, is also facing charges in connection with the case, but not her disappearance. At present, she is working on a plea deal with investigators.

"I have my days where I still can't believe it. I didn't think this would be the outcome," said Sorey. She described the past year as a living hell and said she wished to move forward with her daughter's legacy. "She has impacted people all over the world and our goal is to make changes in her name so this doesn't happen again, and again, and again," Sorey said. A $150,000 reward is still being offered for information that could lead to Harmony's body.
