‘Your daughter is dead’: Nigel Malt who killed teen daughter Lauren by driving over her TWICE gets life in prison
NORFOLK, VIRGINIA: A 45-year-old father, Nigel Malt, who ran over his 19-year-old daughter Lauren Malt twice in a fit of rage, has been found guilty after a trial at Norwich Crown Court. The jury convicted the father following a four-week trial in July and has sentenced him for life with a minimum term of 18 years.
The jury heard Nigel was estranged from his wife and his children and living separately at a different address, as per BBC. At the time, he was on bail awaiting trial on two counts of assaulting his wife in April 2021. On January 23, Nigel drove down to Lauren's place, in Leete Way, West Winch, where he argued with her and her partner. According to Lynn News, the couple continued to argue with him before Nigel got inside his black Mercedes C200 and drove over Lauren. She was pronounced dead at hospital in King’s Lynn, where the defendant took her.

Describing the incident, Karen Malt, Lauren's gave her statement in court by saying, as quoted by Yahoo!, “I remember the call saying ‘I will bring your daughter over, she’s dead’. I was screaming ‘which one’ to him down the phone but he wouldn’t tell me. But when his car arrived, the feeling of dread started to come over me. I just knew she wasn’t going to make it. She was stuffed in the footwell. I saw her face and felt sick. I couldn’t believe she had been stuffed down there. Seeing her in that position for me was worse than knowing she had been run over." Adding further, Karen told that she tried moving her daughter into the seat, with no help from the father. “I can’t fathom how a parent could kill their own child. How do you forgive?” she expressed.
Following Lauren's death and the trial, judge Anthony Bate sentenced the father to life in prison with a minimum term of 18 years, which is time he must spend behind bars before he can be considered for release. In addition to this, the judge said that Nigel was found to have 170 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood, more than the legal limit of 80 milligrams, as per Yahoo!
