More than 300,000 people have taken to signing a petition on MoveOn where they demanded that the House, Senate, and Executive cabinet members remove Donald Trump from office immediately.

The petition comes post the news of Trump rioters breaching the Capitol to try and prevent President-elect Joe Biden from being declared the winner of the 2020 election. Lawmakers were trapped inside the building and Vice President Mike Pence had to be evacuated. The violent protests saw the deaths of five people dead while 52 arrests were made.

The MoveOn petition page reads, "The daily damage he is doing to America—much of it criminal—is inexcusable. He continues to relentlessly spread conspiracy theories about voting and federal elections and is actively working to manipulate election results." The petition was signed by 308,157 people when this article was published.

"Trump's incitement of mob violence earlier today in D.C. is just the latest in a series of insults and assaults on our democracy," the page reads.

The page also says that many citizens of America do not approve of the Trump presidency with a record number voting him out of office. It also states that many Republicans are also willing to admit that Trump is a "drag on their party and the nation".

The statement on the page also accuses Trump of "burning down everything in his path" and also picking fights with everyone. The page demands that "whether by impeachment or the 25th amendment, Trump must be removed—and ultimately held accountable for the attacks on our elections, incitement of violence and so much more."

The page concludes, "Our nation's federal leadership must come together to remove Donald Trump from office. He is actively and illegally working to overturn the results of the election because he cannot stand to admit he lost. He's the leader of the violence and chaos at the Capitol right now. Enough is enough. Remove Trump from office. Now."

It seems as though this is the recurring sentiment between Americans. We had earlier reported that the House Judiciary Committee, which is controlled by the Democrat Party, has called on Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office. The letter read: "President Trump remained silence even as insurrections broke windows, threatened US Capitol Police, and scaled the walls of the Capitol."

"Earlier in the morning, President Trump held a rally at the White House and told protesters ‘I’ll be with you’ and encouraged them to march to the Capitol to protest the certification of the electoral college votes," the letter continued. House Judiciary Committee Democrats also said, "Even in his video announcement this afternoon, President Trump revealed that he is not mentally sound and is still unable to process and accept the results of the 2020 election."

"President Trump's willingness to incite violence and social unrest to overturn the election results by force clearly meet this standard." The 25th Amendment requires that the vice president and a majority of principal officers of executive departments or a body like Congress may by law inform the Congress that the president is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Should the 25th Amendment be invoked, Trump would be removed from office and Pence would take over.
