'Motherland: Fort Salem': Release date, plot, cast, and all you need to know about the witchy military drama
What if witches were real and what if the witches of 17th-century Salem made a deal with the government to escape persecution?
That is the premise of Freeform's upcoming show, 'Motherland: Fort Salem' which will hit our screens soon. However, the drama will not be like any other witchy drama. Instead, it will focus on an alternate future where witches form the military of the United States government.
Release date
'Motherland: Fort Salem' will air on Wednesday nights at 9/8c on Freeform. The show will premiere on March 18. The first season will consist of 10 episodes.
Plot
'Motherland: Fort Salem' is set in a world where witches are not only real but they also form the military. In the 17th century, the witches struck a deal with the United States government to end their persecution -- they agreed to fight for the country.
The show is set in an alternate, present-day America and follows three young women from basic training in combat magic into terrifying and thrilling early deployment. In the show, the traditional roles of gender and power are flipped -- with the women on the front lines fighting a looming terrorist threat, called the Spree. It's a woman's world on 'Motherland: Fort Salem'.
