Monsta X Shownu continues cooking vlogs for members’ birthdays while in military

Fans missed Shownu's hilarious cooking vlog where he tried to make a birthday meal for Jooheon

With Shownu being the oldest and the first member of Monsta X to enlist in the military, the group and fans miss him every day. But even during his military service, he is doing his best to gift Monsta X and Monbebes (their fandom). We first were surprised when he made a birthday meal for Jooheon’s birthday along with a vlog of him cooking before he enlisted. And it looks like it is going to become a series, because on November 29, Starship dropped another vlog of Shownu cooking.

With Minhyuk and Kihyun’s birthdays in November, Shownu decided to make a cooking vlog as he made birthday meals for the two Monsta X vocalists. While the leader of the group had made Jooheon’s favorite Korean dishes, Shownu decided to go with sandwiches and pasta for Minhyuk and Kihyun since they are not too picky. And with Shownu not really being a cook, fans found his aggressive cooking adorable. We had him noisily cutting up the ingredients and almost breaking the blender to peeling avocados with a potato peeler.

Shownu gifts fans and Monsta X with a cooking series

He ended the vlog with a delicious meal of whole wheat ragu pasta and avocado toast. Shownu also promised that he would come back with another vlog for the next member’s birthday or maybe even a simple video where he would just sit and chat with fans. He enlisted in the military in July 2021 and is working as a social worker.

We also have Monsta X constantly talking about Shownu and how much they miss him. At a radio show, when asked if Shownu had heard 'Rush Hour', the members said that he had visited the music video set and cheered for them and had also congratulated them on their first win. We also had Jooheon and Hyungwon getting emotional and remembering Shownu when B.I.G members confessed that they had written letters during the military as they were scared their group would disband after their discharge.

'We miss Shownu'

Fans trended Shownu as they found the vlog endearing. One Monbebe found it hilarious that Shownu had peeled the avocado with a potato peeler, “I think this is the first time in my 24 years of life that I’ve seen someone peel an avocado.” Another loved that one of the responsibilities of a social worker was him to take care of kids at daycare and joked, “Shownu at the kindergarten in front of the tv showing this to the kiddos.”

One fan couldn’t get over Shownu’s slamming technique to check if the cooking induction was on, “Shownu checking the temperature.” Fans also made memes, “Shownu is that guy in adventure movies who does everything wrong but still ends up getting to the treasure.” Another added, “MX: we miss Shownu so much. Shownu: I’m literally right here guys. MX: sometimes we can still hear his voice.”
