'Modern Love' Episode 5 is a light breezy watch about love blossoming even in the most disastrous of dates

Everything is going fine and the two find themselves in Rob's apartment. Things start taking a turn that usually does on dates. But following a little drunken slip, Rob gets a piece of glass wedged in his arm. Their second date, hence, ends up taking place at the hospital

Spoilers ahead for Episode 5 titled 'At the Hospital, an Interlude of Clarity' in Amazon Prime Video's 'Modern Love' 

On their second date, Yasmine (Sofia Boutella) and Rob (John Gallagher Jr.) are on an escalator when he notices something weird. Several men are looking at her and smiling.

And while it doesn't completely put him off, it is evident here that Rob has certain insecurities about being with a woman this gorgeous. 

Everything is going fine and the two find themselves in Rob's apartment. Things start taking a turn that usually does on dates. But following a little drunken slip, Rob gets a piece of glass wedged in his arm.

'At the Hospital, an Interlude of Clarity' is a story about Yasmine and Rob's second date that, after an almost comical turn, extends into a serious hospital visit.

"There is never a good time to fall off your couch onto a martini glass and begin losing a dangerous amount of blood, but having this happen in the middle of a promising date is an especially bad time."

After the surgery, they have to wait six hours until he gets discharged. The six hours catapults Yasmine and Rob into a camaraderie that is akin to long-term relationships.

They develop a proximity over sharing their deepest secrets, but most importantly their flaws, their vulnerabilities which they lay out on just the second date.

Rob suffers through anxiety and is on anti-depressants. She compulsively seeks attention, something that cost Yasmine her last relationship. 

These vulnerabilities are often kept to oneself till time eventually puts it out there. 'At the Hospital, an Interlude of Clarity' is a light, breezy watch about a couple on their second date, an amusing story about the possibility of love blossoming from even the most disastrous of dates. 

"For six hours in the hospital, of all places, I was my true self and could enjoy the company of a woman."
