At least 14 people have died and 16 more have been injured in shooting incidents throughout the course of a brutal Christmas weekend in the US. While places like Denver, Philadelphia, and Chicago were all shaken by gun violence, a child under the age of five was among the expanding list of victims in Kansas City, as per The Sun

This past weekend, six individuals died in Colorado as a result of gun-related crimes that shook the local population. Investigators are currently looking into two double homicides that happened on Christmas Eve in Aurora, Colorado. Police were summoned to a residence in the 1500 block of Boston street on Saturday, December 24, in response to complaints of a welfare check. When they arrived, they discovered two people who seemed to have gunshot wounds. Both of them were declared dead at the site. Investigators are attempting to establish the relationship between the two victims as no arrests have been made thus far.

Officers were contacted later that day regarding a shooting in the 17500 block of East Tennessee Place. Two men with gunshot wounds were discovered by the investigators outside the home. They were taken to the hospital right away, but they died soon after. In what is thought to have been a murder-suicide, a married couple was discovered shot to death at a Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall in Thornton, Colorado, according to authorities. An adult male is believed to have shot and killed an adult female before turning the gun on himself. The two were married, and Thornton police confirmed that they had previously belonged to the Kingdom Hall church, as per the news outlet.

Additionally, a man was shot and killed inside the Mall of America on Friday, December 23. Before Bloomington Police arrived and took control of the largest mall in America during the peak of the Christmas shopping season, shoppers and NFL players caught up in the mayhem fled to safe rooms. Throughout many gunshots over the Christmas weekend in Chicago, at least seven individuals, including a youngster, were also injured, reported The US Sun.

In the first shooting of the long weekend, a 55-year-old man was shot in the hand on Saturday evening. According to the police, he was taken to a nearby hospital and is now listed in good condition. A self-inflicted gunshot wound to the hand was received by another male, 48, less than 30 minutes later. He was also sent to a hospital in good condition, according to officials. Later that evening, after seeing a gunshot, an officer shot two persons while opening fire on three suspects.
