Tanner Hoang: Missing A&M student found dead in Austin a week after mysteriously disappearing
AUSTIN, TEXAS: A desperate police search for a missing A&M student came to a tragic end on Saturday, December 24, after he was reportedly found dead in Austin. Tanner Hoang, 22, of Flower Mound, was found dead in the water near the Penny-backer Bridge on Loop 360 just before 12.30 pm. The unexpected death of the young man has left his family devastated.
Tanner's deceased body was found not far from where his car was recovered, the Amber Alert Network Brazos Valley stated. His family found his 2009 Lexus car with Texas LP BS2C737 near the hiking trail on December 22, unoccupied, along with his wallet. The cause of death has not been released, but police do not suspect foul play. "This is not the outcome that we have all been praying for, but on this Christmas Eve, Tanner is now in the arms of his Savior, King, Prince of Peace, Joy, and Healer,” Michael C Miller, a friend of Hoang wrote on a Facebook page dedicated to finding the 22-year-old.

Tanner's family filed a missing person report after the mechanical engineering student mysteriously failed to show up for a lunch to celebrate his graduation. He was last seen at The Trails at Wolf Pen apartment complex in College Station around 11 am December 16. Tanner's family said on social media that they were in town to watch him graduate. After he went missing, they learned he had fallen short of the requirements to graduate.
Texas A&M confirmed he was not part of the ceremonies. The family grew worried about their son after his father texted him at 8.30 am and the message was marked as "read" before Tanner's phone turned off. "Just let him know his family loves him, his entire extended family, that God loves him, there's nothing that he has done that would keep us from loving him," Tanner's uncle Tuan Hoang said according to The Sun.
Hoang’s other uncle previously told KRHD that his disappearance was “very uncharacteristic.” “He was supposed to graduate but I’m not sure what happened that would cause him to leave,” Tanner'w uncle Bao Hoang said. “We really want him to come back and be with us and we love him obviously and think highly of him. We’re doing all we can in the investigation,” said Bao at the time encouraging the young man to return home and reunite with the family. “Tanner, we love you. God loves you,” he added.
