NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: The stunning New York City townhouse featured in the classic 2006 film 'The Devil Wears Prada' as fashion mogul Miranda Priestly’s home has been listed on the market for a whopping $27 million.

Designed in 1906 by recognized architect Stanford White and renovated in 2005 under the jurisdiction of designer Diamond Barrata, the house has been listed by Coldwell Banker, according to the Daily Mail. It is reportedly located in 129 East 73rd street on the Upper East Side and stands five stories tall. The full asking price for the property is $27,500,000, as per the publication.

Lavish townhouse has 20 rooms

The iconic townhouse reportedly features a total of 20 rooms sprawled across 22 feet, including seven bedrooms taking a space of about 12,000 square-feet. It has four half and six full bathrooms and even a half-basketball court alongside a terrace on the rooftop. The house sports three sets of French doors at the main entrance that opens on to a foyer with a working fireplace.

It also has a den with arched ceilings, doors, and wooden panels, leading into the eat-in kitchen painted in white with matching cabinetry. All appliances inside the home are state-of-the-art with marble floors and countertops. The house also has a skylight over the breakfast area, leading the kitchen in an outdoor patio space, the outlet reported.

The upper levels of the property can be accessed by a spiral wooden staircase. A library is located upstairs on the street side to the south as well as a master bedroom at the rear of the home facing north. There are built-in bookshelves lining the walls in the living room with a trio of tall arched windows open out onto the street. There are also two working fireplaces along the room. Behind the living room is a dining room, which comprises of another fireplace, alongside a servant’s pantry with a staircase that connects the pantry to kitchen the located below. There is also a terrace extended from dining room. The lavish master bathroom is considered to be one of the most prominent features of the townhouse and comes with a large circular window situated directly over the bathtub.

Moving further upstairs is another bedroom joined with a terrace and a gym at the front of the home. Above that are two other bedrooms, another terrace, and a balcony. The half basketball court is located on the top floor and features a planked floor, padded walls, and a huge skylight across the ceiling. Behind the basketball is a wide terrace with a grill, dining space, and a jacuzzi.

The townhouse in ‘The Devil Wears Prada’

While the NYC townhouse has been standing at the heart of the city for several decades, it gained further prominence after being featured in David Frankel’s 2006 film ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ based on the 2003 Lauren Weisberger novel of the same name. In the film, the property is presented as the home of Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), the icy fashion mogul and powerful editor-in-chief of the fictional fashion magazine, ‘Runway.’



 

In the film, writer Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) lands a job as the second assistant of Priestly while trying to establish a career in journalism. One scene featuring the townhouse has Sachs delivering a book along with the dry cleaning to Priestly’s lavish home located at 129 East 73rd street on the Upper East Side. The townhouse was originally renovated in 2005, a year before being featured in the iconic film, and has reportedly remained unchanged on the inside since being seen in the 2006 film. The film went on to become a blockbuster and grossed more than $320 million, with fans obsessing over the fashion and lavish sets.
