'Not a magical time': Internet appalled as 'dark era' Minnie Mouse 'manhandles' child at Disneyland

A video shows a little girl running up to Minnie Mouse for a hug when the character rebuffed her hug and 'aggressively' turned her around for a photo

ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA: Disneyland goes to great lengths to make sure every visitor is treated with the highest respect and has the most spectacular experience imaginable. Unfortunately, one recent visitor had an encounter that ruined the day and unquestionably fell short of the enchanted standards that are associated with the entertainment park.

A viral TikTok video shows a little child approaching Minnie Mouse during a meet-and-greet at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. However, infuriated viewers have accused Minnie of being "aggressive" and "manhandling" the little girl after seeing footage of the character spinning the child around when she sought to hug the Disney character at the park.

'Minnie was rude'

The video, posted on Tiktok by @anisrios1, shows an eager child who had her arms up to embrace the mascot but swiftly being turned around for a photo. When the little girl tried to wriggle out of Minnie's arms for another hug, she was once again turned away. The video was captioned, "Yesterday my niece was trying to hug Minnie and she was rude."

'That baby got whiplash from those spins!'

The clip has received 15.5 million views and more than 20K comments since it was posted. Many viewers insisted that the girl only wanted a hug and that the theme park performer had been too hard on her. "No way @DisneyParks. Not okay. That's a child and they were aggressively turning her away from a hug," one person wrote. "The way Minnie manhandles her," someone else commented, while another added, "That baby got whiplash from those spins!" "All this baby wanted was a hug. I am so mad," one critic stated. A viewer who found the character's actions odd couldn't help but make fun of it, exclaiming, "Minnie's in her dark era."

'Not a magical time'

However, many others supported Minnie, arguing that the actor was preoccupied with posing for photos. "Minnie's got work to do. She is on a time crunch and needs the line to keep moving," one person argued. Aiko Mora, the mother of the toddler, interjected to address the comments who believed her family was being overly dramatic. "It was her first time at Disney," she said of her daughter. "And the first in line for the picture... Minnie was coming from a break..." She posted the same video with an overlaying text which read, "This is not the way anyone should be treated at Disneyland." Mora, who has the handle @aikotov1, wrote in the caption, "This is how Minnie decided to treat my kid after making 1 hour in line...Not a magical time..."
