Meek Mill accidentally trips referee during 76ers vs Suns, fans say 'best defense Philly played all night'
PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA: "I be spiked out, I can trip a referee. Tell by my attitude that I'm most definitely from…" reads the lyrics of 'Empire State Of Mind' by Jay-Z ft Alicia Keys and fans pointed out Meek Mill, literally, seemed to executed it. During a match between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Phoenix Suns at Wells Fargo Center, the 35-year-old rapper accidentally tripped a referee as he stretched his legs nearly all the way to the sideline.
According to CBS Sports, when the match was in the middle of the second quarter, the referee Brent Barnaky on the far side of the court was running when Mill stretched his legs and caused Barnaky to take a tumble as he tripped over Mill’s feet. And now, the video of the trip is going viral among fans, to which even Mill responded, with laughing emojis, by saying, "Hov [Jay-Z] once said I be spiked out I can trip a referee lol I apologized to him that’s brazyyy tho."

Even one of the fans jokingly said, "@MeekMill - Taking Jay-Z lyrics literally i see!" While other fan wrote, "Ofc it had to be Meek Mill." Another said, "Best defense Philly played all night."
One of many pointed out the after-state of the referee. The individual wrote, "The ref gonna have dreams and nightmares about that." Another person commented, "Meek Mill comes to NBA games to do trampoline tricks and trip refs. He is a cartoon character." While a user said, while mentioning another incident of Mill, who performed at World Series Game 5 last week and was caught on a ride with the Phillie Phanatic, climbing on to the front of the Phanatic's ATV, and riding off the field, "And that’s the 2nd most awkward thing he has done at a sporting event in the last week."
