KINGSTOWN, MICHIGAN: The intensity of 'Mayor of Kingstown' Season 3 continues to escalate with each episode, as Mike McLusky (Jeremy Renner) confronts an increasing number of challenges.

The introduction of new villains Konstantin (Yorick van Wageningen) and Merle Callahan (Richard Brake) in 'Mayor of Kingstown' Season 3 significantly heightens the tension and intensify the challenges faced by Mike.

In 'Mayor of Kingstown' Season 1, Iris (Emma Laird) is offered a chance to escape her dire circumstances after Mike chooses not to use her in the way Russian mobster Milo Sunter (Aidan Gillen) had planned.

However, in Season 2, Iris returns to the Russian mobster only to face consequences later on. Mike once again comes to her rescue. In 'Mayor of Kingstown' Season 3, their relationship evolves into one of deep care for each other. However, it seems Mike's guilt could put her life at risk.

In 'Mayor of Kingstown' Season 2, Mike decided to hide the news of Milo escaping jail from Iris in an attempt to shield her from unnecessary worry.

However, this decision backfired as Iris, unaware of the true danger, ended up returning to Milo. Upon her return, she was handed over to Tatiana (Gratiela Brancusi), Milo's love interest.

Iris faced the same kind of exploitation and abuse that she had suffered at Milo's hands throughout the first season. This cycle of torment highlighted the perilous consequences of Mike's decision to withhold information.

Mike frequently undermined Iris’s autonomy under the guise of protecting her, rather than including her in decisions about her future. His reaction in 'Mayor of Kingstown' Season 3, Episode 6, demonstrated that he could still put Iris at risk.

In 'Mayor of Kingstown' Season 3, Episode 5, Iris agreed to spy on Konstantin to assist Mike. Aware of the dangers involved, Mike instructed her that they could only communicate using the burner phone he provided.

In Episode 6, Mike was inadvertently putting Iris in danger with his decisions and protective instincts. However, Iris eventually demonstrated her own resourcefulness and critical thinking for her safety.

In Episode 6, Mike’s decision to call Iris and inform her that the SWAT team would soon raid Konstantin's Cavo, advising her to take her lunch break, violated his own protocol of only using the burner phone for communication.

He failed to recognize that if Iris took a break during the raid, Konstantin might become suspicious of her actions.

Mike understood the risks associated with contacting Iris, knowing it could jeopardize her safety. Despite this awareness, his protective instincts compelled him to reach out, driven by a desire to shield her from the possible brutality of the SWAT team's actions.

Mike’s approach to protecting Iris would have ultimately placed her in greater danger.

Mike has been plagued by guilt for not protecting Iris adequately from Milo in Season 2, leading him to make poor decisions. He needs to confront his guilt over not caring for Iris sooner and move past the trauma Milo caused her, or he risks placing Iris in even greater danger in Season 3 of 'Mayor of Kingstown'.

Iris has proven she can take care of herself and make sound choices, as demonstrated in Episode 6 when she chose to stay during the raid instead of taking her lunch break.

If Iris had listened to Mike's advice, she would have likely been killed. Konstantin is ruthless and does not tolerate betrayal; he kills anyone he suspects of being disloyal. This was starkly illustrated when he killed Tatiana, believing she might betray him.

This shows how dangerous the situation is for Iris. Mike's protective instincts could have put Iris in a deadly position. Her independence and ability to make her own choices became essential for her survival.
