Mayor de Blasio spoofs Trump's WH salute, furious Internet says 'NYC has highest Covid-19 death rate in the world'
Mayor de Blasio seemed to be mocking POTUS Donald Trump and released what appears to be a spoof video of Trump's return to the White House. Bill de Blasio on Tuesday, October 6, shared a video of himself putting on a face mask outside City Hall. The footage which is set to orchestral music shows Blasio holding up a face mask in victory before slowly adjusting the mask straps over each ear, NY Post reports.
He then salutes before turning around, flinging a door open and entering City Hall. The video footage which is around 21 seconds long was captioned, "In New York City we wear our masks, proudly." The video appeared to be a parody on part of the mayor who had run a failed campaign for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination last year.
The video was mocking a dramatic clip that was released by Trump on Monday night which showed his return to the White House post his release from the Walter Reed Medical Center. Trump, who had tested positive for coronavirus had spent three days at the hospital before returning to the White House.

Many social media users took to commenting on Mayor de Blasio's video and slammed him. One such user had written, "Thanks...another reason not to choose your city as a travel destination. I’ll go somewhere where I’m free to do as I please and not be shamed or punished by fear." Another social media user had commented and shared, "New York City has the highest Covid-19 death rate in the world and 20% unemployment. Theater, museums and restaurants are shut down, wealth is fleeing the city, crime is out of control, and you are ranting about masks?"
"Totally asinine video. Just when you think this guy can’t get worse.......Condolences to those left in NYC who have to endure this guy," wrote another Twitter user.

Many others were also upset with de Blasio's video and did not hold back from the comments. One such user had written, "He steps outside without a mask on, to put on a mask, to walk back into the place he didn't have a mask on ? WHAT?" Another user who echoed the same sentiments had also written, "To see the depths this once proud, vibrant & incredible city have come to is heartbreaking. NYC has always been my favorite city & to watch.. this.. happen actually hurts. Physically hurts."

We had earlier reported that Trump got discharged from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and returned to the White House on Monday, October 5, to continue his fight against Covid-19, after his medical team warned that he “may not entirely be out of the woods yet".
Once he was discharged from the medical center, he was slammed for his early return and putting everyone in the White House at risk. He was seen walking out of the hospital on his own and upon walking out the doors of the hospital, he made a low fist pump and gave a thumbs up to the press as he got into a black SUV to head to Marine One.
