NEW JERSEY, NEW YORK: New Jersey mother accused of murdering her Republican activist husband on Christmas Day had been fighting before the shooting, according to new court documents. Marylue Wigglesworth, 51, has been arrested and charged with the murder of her husband, David, 57, in their May's Landing home over the holiday season.

According to an affidavit, Wigglesworth contacted 911 on Sunday, December 25 night about 10.19 pm and said that she and her spouse had gotten into a disagreement. When the police came, they discovered David in the house's bedroom next to a revolver with a gunshot wound. Then, according to the allegations, Marylue admitted to shooting her husband

Before the incident, the New Jersey couple, who have a son, together, had been sharing happy pictures of themselves on social media. However, a family member told that they could "argue about anything," despite neighbors' claims that they were "happy and content," as per Daily Mail. David's Facebook page displayed the pair spending years together happily, traveling to Las Vegas, Philadelphia, Maryland, and taking summer vacations by the sea. David shared pictures from a vacation to Maryland in September, and Marylue shared pictures from Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade in New York City in November. But again, David, Marylue's politically engaged husband, and Marylue were quite "off and on," according to Marylue's 58-year-old brother Francis Gallagher as they were always fighting. In addition, many of David's recent posts have been in favor of socialism and supporting liberal principles like defunding the police, despite the fact that he was running as a Republican in 2019 and backed local GOP candidates.

David, who presided over the Hamilton Township Planning Board, was found dead from a homicide, according to an autopsy. However, it is still unknown what exactly happened when the fatal shooting occurred. Meanwhile, Wigglesworth is still being held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility and will show up for a hearing regarding her detention on Wednesday, January 4.

MEAWW previously reported, according to the Atlantic Police County officers, "On December 25, 2022, at approximately 10:19 p.m., the Township of Hamilton Police Department responded to a residence on the 5200 block of Mays Landing Somers Point Rd., for an injured male. Officers arrived to find the man, later identified as David B. Wigglesworth suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Mr. Wigglesworth was pronounced deceased.”

Wiggy is David's nickname among his friends. In 2019, he ran for township committee as a Republican. He also served on the Planning Board and volunteered for The Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City. In 2012, David ran for the Hamilton Township Committee with Bruce Strigh. Wigglesworth and Strigh were defeated in the 2012 General Election by Rodney Guishard and Judy Link.
