Senator Mitt Romney (R-Utah) and freshman House Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) are going against each other on Twitter as two sides of the GOP emerges following the exit of Donald Trump as President. The feud arose after Greene claimed on Twitter that she had a call with the former President as Romney called her out for supporting the baseless and fraudulent claim that Trump won the presidential elections against Joe Biden.

Greene has been the subject of an increasing number of calls to be expelled from the House by Democrats for her past support of conspiracy theories, including that school shootings were a hoax. Greene has associated herself with the far-right fringe conspiracy theory group, QAnon, in the past, however, had distanced herself from it during her election run.

Greene had tweeted on her alleged call with Trump, writing, "I had a GREAT call with my all-time favorite POTUS, President Trump! I’m so grateful for his support and more importantly, the people of this country are absolutely 100% loyal to him because he is 100% loyal to the people and America First." She continued, "You can never beat him because We The People have his back. The bloodthirsty media and the socialists hate America Democrats are attacking me now just like they always attack President Trump. I can promise you this...". She added, "I won’t back down. I’ll never apologize. And I’ll always keep fighting for the people. For me, it’s America First!!! Any elected politician that isn’t putting America First doesn’t deserve their position or the people’s trust."

Romney then tweeted on the news that Greene had a call with Trump, writing, "Lies of a feather flock together: Marjorie Taylor Greene’s nonsense and the “big lie” of a stolen election." Greene then retweeted Romney's tweet, writing, "'Republican' Senator Mitt Romney obviously cares nothing about the people’s number one concern. Please grow a pair or a spine."

According to Newsweek, that Greene spoke with Trump speculated that Greene could be the "de facto leader" of the House GOP Caucus. Political analyst, Josh Marshall had tweeted, "Will take a bit for most to realize it. But with this call Trump has made Greene de facto leader of the House GOP caucus. She speaks for him and he supports her. So she is untouchable. Nominal leaders like McCarthy will fall in line and take her lead because they answer to Trump."

The feud between the two Republicans have divided the internet. One user tweeted, "Marjorie is an American embarrassment." Another wrote, "marjorie taylor greene and lauren boebert are far more influential in the gop than mitt romney. its not a contest." A user tweeted, "Regardless of what some do, such as Mitt Romney, Marjorie Taylor Greene is the face of the @GOP
... from the minute they accepted her into their ranks, followed by @GOPLeader welcoming her to the House (along with fellow Q loon, Boebert.)"

One user commented, "Says all you need to know about today's GOP that more of them are condemning Mitt Romney and Cindy McCain than are condemning Lauren Boebert and Marjorie Taylor Greene." Another wrote, "For all the hand-wringing and disappointed dadding @MittRomney does with the press about the @GOP, @mtgreenee is the party now, just as much as Trump is. So is Mitt. Just look at his votes. He's as dirty as all of them. They value power over freedom or laws or justice."
