MANHATTAN, NEW YORK CITY: Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene was one of the few Republican lawmakers who arrived at the protest outside Manhattan courthouse in New York City on Tuesday, April 4, ahead of former President Donald Trump’s arraignment. After speaking to a crowd of protesters, she left in a car with Right Side Broadcasting Network (RSBN) correspondent Brian Glenn, who is also her boyfriend. However, a statement she made left the internet in splits.

In an interview with her boyfriend, she compared Trump to Jesus and Nelson Mandela. She said, “Trump is joining some of the most incredible people in history being arrested today,” and further added, “Nelson Mandela was arrested, served time in prison. Jesus was arrested and murdered by the Roman government. There have been many people throughout history that have been arrested and persecuted by radical, corrupt governments, and it's beginning today in New York City, and I just can't believe it's happening, but I'll always support him. He's done nothing wrong," reports Business Insider.

'MTG is such an embarrassment'

Following her statement, many were quick to react with one saying, "This might be the funniest thing I've ever seen." One more said, "She definitely just googled historical figures who were arrested." While one bashed her and wrote, "Jesus! As in "Jesus this lady is stoopid." Another said, "Comparing Trump (or any person) to Christ is absurd and beyond sacrilege. Sorry MTG, you deserve derision for this."

On the other hand, a Twitter user wrote, "Wait, what? Now she’s ok with his arrest because “some of the most incredible people in history” have been arrested? Oh my lord, she makes no sense." While one pointed out, "Mandela fought against hatred, Trump embraces and encourages it. Jesus was all about love and helping the less fortunate. Trump has never cared about anyone but himself." Another wrote, "MTG is such an embarrassment." Also, one of many pointed out, "She is also dating the interviewer."

So maybe I'm falling in love with the press."
