PERTH, SCOTLAND: A drunk woman crashed into six cars before staggering out of her vehicle and landing a punch on a witness under the influence of alcohol on February 5, 2022.

Maria Mills, 39, had downed forty measures of Baileys Irish Cream before causing chaos on the streets by smashing into six parked cars worth over $100,000. After the crash, passerbys tried to stop the drunk driver's rampage by trying to take away her car keys. Mills attacked them in response. Later, she was pinned on the ground to prevent further harm. The incident happened just two streets away from her house in Perth, Scotland.

Maria Mills admitted to driving dangerously while she was three times over the permissible alcohol limit at Perth Sheriff Court. She admitted crashing her Chevrolet Captiva into a Kia Ceed, a BMW 118, a Kia Rio, a Vauxhall Corsa, a Ford Puma and a Kia XCeed, as reported by DailyRecord. Her statement also mentioned pushing Kieran Bruce and trying to punch Lewis Carnduff on Gleneagles Road at the time of the incident.

Prosecutor David Currie told the court about Mill's partner finding her under the influence of alcohol at 11 pm during his visit to her home at the late hour. "He challenged her to stop her driving. He observed her leaving with the keys in her hands. A neighbor down the street saw her start her vehicle and accelerate down the street," the court was told.

"They heard a loud bang and car alarms going off. The accused's vehicle was no longer in sight. A number of vehicles in Glengarry Road were damaged. Three vehicles were dented and damaged. Witnesses heard the bang of another vehicle being damaged down the street," stated Mr Currie. "They saw her vehicle on the pavement. They banged the window, but she tried to drive off. She was driving in an erratic manner and the damage to her car was so severe the locking was malfunctioning. A witness was able to remove the keys from the ignition." The prosecutor said that witnesses were sure Mills was under the influence of alcohol, due to her demeanor and the smell of alcohol.

The tense situation was resolved when several witnesses pinned her down on the ground until police reached the spot. The police apparently had received multiple calls from the neighbors and passersby about Mills' driving. After their arrival, the cops handcuffed her and took her to the hospital.

Solicitor Pauline Cullerton defended Mills' case by stating, "She is a first offender and this is a very unfortunate set of circumstances. She had fallen out with her partner. Her mood was particularly low and she had consumed around one and a half bottles of Baileys. She has a vague recollection of picking up the car keys. She lost control of the vehicle and hit several parked cars. She does recall being taken out of the vehicle and pinned to the ground. By that time she was in a state of distress. She takes full responsibility to each of the offenses. She is thoroughly sickened by her behavior and very much regrets what she has done." The court has banned Maria Mills from driving for 16 months and ordered her to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work in the community.
