MANHATTAN, NEW YORK CITY: An unidentified man reportedly plunged to his death from a supportive housing building in Times Square in New York City. The incident took place early morning on Saturday, December 17, 2022, the officials informed. The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) reportedly said that the man was declared dead at the scene after the fall at 6.50 am on 43rd Street near 8th Avenue.

Startled at the tragic incident at the building, a shocked woman, who answered the phone at the office location after four hours, exclaimed, "Someone jumped? Jesus Christ!" The woman further said that the property was a place of residence, according to the New York Post. No further details on the incident were shared by the authorities.

During the investigation, the NYPD closed off the block, according to two bellboys at the Westin Hotel located across the street. Though they did not see the victim jump or fall from the building, the bellboys said the deceased was a male.

Opened in 1991, the building called Times Square, a 652-unit former hotel “combines permanent affordable housing and onsite supportive services for low-income and formerly homeless adults, persons with serious mental illness and persons living with HIV/AIDS,” as per the nonprofit Breaking Ground website.

MEAWW previously reported a recent similar incident at Times Square where a woman named Elizabeth Gaglewski plummeted to death from a hotel rooftop bar two months ago. On a Wednesday afternoon on October 12, the 26-year-old woman was "seen jumping" from Bar 54 at around 3.30 pm. The rooftop bar was located on the 54th floor of the Hyatt Centric on West 45th Street close to Seventh Avenue.

The woman, who was a model by profession, fell through 27 floors and landed on the balcony below the 27th floor. She was found unconscious and unresponsive and was then pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel.

Standing up from her reserved spot and making her way outside to the terrace, she sat close to the glass railing. Other customers at the bar were alarmed and they informed the staff that the woman had jumped over the railing.
