'Teen Mom OG': Here's why Maci Bookout might be leaving the franchise
Being a reality TV star may have its perks, but it always had its fair share of setbacks. For the moms of 'Teen Mom OG', raising their kids on TV is no cakewalk. Between being parents, reality TV stars and handling their careers, they often find themselves under the harsh scrutiny of their fans.
Maci Bookout has been a part of the franchise right since her appearance on '16 and Pregnant' and definitely understands the pro and cons of having her life play out on TV. Following the firing of Ryan Edwards and his family, it looks like Maci's time on the show might be something she is reconsidering herself.

For Maci Bookout, fans have seen her go through it all -- from her teen pregnancy to co-parenting Bentley with Ryan Edwards to finding love with Taylor McKinney and finally, starting a family of her own. Having been on the show right from the start, it looks like now Bookout might be rethinking her future on the show. As reported by Heavy., Bookout spoke up about what lies ahead while on the Dad Up podcast.
"It's a season-to-season decision but I think right now, definitely more than ever, we're leaning more toward deciding when the right time to move on is," she explained on the show, earlier this year. "And, if we do move on from the show, would it be to maybe stay in TV and just kind of go in a different direction, or do we want to kind of leave TV behind for good?" she said.
She also added that the final decision boils down to what is in the best interest of her children, seeing that they are now growing older and would possibly not want their lives to be on display.
"Really, it all depends on how it affects our children, especially since Bentley's in middle school, which is a tough age in general…it is getting to that time, especially for our kids…" she added.
However, while talking to E!Online, she also maintained that production is respectful when it comes to the children's comfort levels and they are never forced to do anything they don't want to.
"I feel like production does a good job of navigating around the children. If the kids don't want to film, they're not going to film." she said.
"As long as we can continue to navigate that and the other positives are happening, I don't see a reason to leave the show but that doesn't mean that one won't arise. It's definitely season by season." she added, implying that for now, her future on the show remains undecided.
You can catch the new season of 'Teen Mom OG' premieres on September 7 at 8/7C, on MTV.
