LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: When the third episode of HBO’s miniseries ‘Love & Death’ ended, we already knew what was going to happen next. The axe that was brought inside the house by Betty was, sadly, going to be used against her. Candy was dead scared after seeing how Betty confronted her and wanted to get out of the situation. So, did she confess to having an affair with Allan? Yes, she did confess to having an affair and said that it happened a long time ago.

Betty was infuriated after listening to Candy’s confession and said that she (Candy) can’t have him. Candy told Betty that she doesn’t intend anything like that because the affair is over. At first, Betty understood what Candy said and was ready to let her go. Candy was taking Betty and Allan’s daughter to the movies and she was going to spend the night at Candy’s. She was leaving her house when she tried saying “sorry” to Betty and that was the time when Betty realized that she can’t let her go like that and pushed her into the bathroom.

Allan's friends found Betty covered in blood

She picked up the axe and started to swing it wildly as if she wanted to kill her. We never get to see how actually Candy killed her because the next scene we see is Elizabeth Olsen’s character getting out of Betty and Allan’s house. She is absolutely shocked and is bleeding from her head. As the episode moves forward, viewers get to know that Candy killed Betty with an axe. Allan, who is on a business trip, calls Betty several times but she never answers. So, he tells some of his buddies to go inside their house and check if everything is fine or not. The front door of their house is unlocked so they easily get inside and find their younger daughter crying inside her crib. However, Betty was nowhere to be seen.

Allan’s friends kept on searching for her and saw that the bathroom had a lot of blood stains. A few moments later, they finally were able to find Betty’s body which was drenched in blood. The police and the Sheriff arrive there for the investigation and try to deduce who did this. According to the forensic expert, a woman or a child did this because they found a print of a shoe that was really small. At first, it was said that Betty was shot, but it was revealed that she was killed by an axe.

Why did Allan lie about his affair with Candy?

Allan finally returns and meets the officers who ask him if his wife ever had an affair. He told them about an affair she had in 1971 when he was too busy with his work and always traveling. However, she never did anything after that. When the officers ask if he had any affair, he said no.

On the other hand, Candy was interrogated by the police because she was the last person to see Betty before she was killed. The police asked a lot of questions to her and she was giving very proper answers. One of the policemen was not satisfied with her answers and was continuously looking at her with suspicion.

The episode ended with Allan calling the Sheriff at night and confessing that he told them a lie during the investigation. In the end, Allan confessed that he had an affair with Candy Montgomery.

The secret’s out now and even Allan feels that Candy might have a hand in all of this. Let’s see how the authorities get to know that Candy was indeed the culprit.
