While there is barely any time left for the series to release on the streaming giant, here's everything you need to know about the forthcoming season 1 of 'Love Alarm'

Along with K-Pop, K-Drama has also taken over the world, with many shows of the genre findings fans across the world. Of late K-Drama has also become one among the most-watched genres on Netflix.

Adding to the already existing slew of Korean movies and series on the streaming giant, Netflix is set to release a brand new original K-Drama series titled 'Love Alarm' in less than a month. 'Love Alarm' season 1 is also Netflix's first original K-Drama series to be released.

'Love Alarm' already has a major fanbase and is one amongst the most popular webtoon series in Korea.

While there is barely any time left for the series to release on the streaming giant, here's everything you need to know about the forthcoming season 1 of 'Love Alarm'. 

Release Date

'Love Alarm' will release on Netflix on August 22, 2019. The series will release at 12:00 am PST/3:00 am EST. 

Plot 

According to Netflix's press release, "Love Alarm, based on the webtoon by Kye Young Chon, one of Korea’s most popular comic authors known for her unique take on the romance genre. The story revolves around an unknown developer releasing an app that will tell the user if someone within 10 meters has romantic feelings for them, which greatly disrupts society." 

Cast 

Kim So-hyun

Kim So-hyun plays the role of Jojo, a young girl who is always cheerful and bright despite her family's painful past. Kim So-hyun who started her career as a child actress is known for her roles in 'Who Are You: School 2015', 'Iris' and 'Man of Vendetta'. 

Jung Ga-ram 

Jung Ga-ram plays the role of Lee Hee-young, the best friend of Sun-oh. He happens to like Jojo. Jung Ga-ram rose to fame with his 2016 film, '4th Place'. He is also known for his roles in 'The Poet and The Boy' and 'Believer'. 

Apart from these two main leads, the series also has other cast members that include, Hwang Sun-oh played by Song Kang, Il-Sik played by Shin Seung-ho, Park Gool-mi played by Go Min-si, Max played by Song Geon-hee and Cheong Duk Gu played by Lee Jae-eung. 

Producer

'Love Alarm' is a 12-episode series produced by Jaemoon Lee. Prior to his work in 'Love Alarm', Lee was actively involved in a number of award-winning Korean drama series that include 'Signal' and 'An Incomplete Life', both of which are loved by K-Drama fans from all over the world. 

Trailer

The recently released trailer of 'Love Alarm' starts off by revealing an app that rings an alarm when you match with someone. Moving on to the next scene, the trailer features Sun-oh, a big celebrity, being transferred to the same school as Jojo and Hee-young. The trailer then goes on to show that Jojo and Sun-oh have a connection, but Hee-young likes her instead. This love alarm ends up creating havoc and fights between the guys, and its left up to Jojo to choose who she wants.
