Louisville mass shooting: Internet in a bizarre war over shooter Connor Sturgeon's pronouns
LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY: The pronouns of Connor Sturgeon, the 23-year-old mass shooter who shot dead five and injured eight others at the Old National Bank before dying in a confrontation with police, has brought some criticism online and has left many debating that "it is the f**king guns, not the pronouns." People shared screenshots of Sturgeon’s LinkedIn profile, which now has been wiped, that showed the use of the pronouns "he/him."
Sebastian Gorka, a commentator and ex-adviser to former President Donald Trump, wrote on Twitter that Sturgeon was "proudly displaying his 'pronouns' online" and called it a "#RedFlag." While Collin Rugg, co-owner of the conservative news site Trending Politics, said, "JUST IN: Louisville mass shooter identified as Connor Sturgeon, who identified as a He/Him. I've said it once I'll say it again: It's not the guns. It's the pronoun extremists." And also shared another tweet stating, "Alleged Louisville Shooter Identified, Shared Chilling IG Stories Before Attack."

As per a few screenshots, Sturgeon posted stories on his now inactive Instagram account on the morning of April 10 before the mass shooting where he shared pictures that had quotes, "I know what I have to do but I don't know if I have the strength to do it," "I could burn this whole place down," and "They won't listen to words or protests. Let's see if they hear this."
'The ACTUAL #RedFlag was texting a friend'
However, after his pronouns came into the picture, many were quick to blame that. But one of many were quick to say, "It is the f**king guns, not the pronouns." While another pointed at Rugg's pronouns that read "he/him," and took a dig at him writing, "Found another extremist on LinkedIn. Have you seen this guy before?" One more wrote, "Imagine thinking that this was a good and intelligent observation." Other user commented, "The ACTUAL #RedFlag was texting a friend he was suicidal and would 'shoot up the bank'. But sure, pronouns."

On the other hand, a user expressed, "It’s a mental health issue. Republicans, democrats, and independents, all over the world, all can have mental health issues. So why does the US have the most mass shootings? Because we have the most guns in the world. The answer to this problem will never be more guns." While one of many continued to say, Ed Krassenstein, an independent journalist, said, "Following the mass shooting in Louisville, Kentucky, and mixed in with their typical “Thoughts and Prayers,” Republicans are now arguing themselves into circles. The first bizarre argument they are making is that the apparent killer Connor Sturgeon "identified as He/Him."
This is ironically how every one of these republican men also identifies. The second argument they are making is that they believe that many of these mass killers are "mentally ill." This all the more reason why there should be mental illness screenings and mental illness background check (among other background checks) when anyone buys a gun. Thank you GOP for proving our point! Common sense gun laws are in fact warranted!"

Details of Louisville mass shooting
The deadly shooting took place on Monday, April 10, at around 8.30 am. The police responded within three minutes after the attack took place and shot gunman Sturgeon during an exchange of gunfire. Paul Humphrey, the deputy chief of the Louisville Metro Police Department, said when they arrived on the scene, “they encountered the suspect almost immediately, still firing gunshots.” And added, "We believe this is a lone gunman involved in this that did have a connection to the bank," reports The New York Times. It was then revealed that Sturgeon worked as a summer intern for the Old National Bank for three consecutive years. Then he accepted a full-time position in June 2021 as a commercial development professional 2021 and was listed as a portfolio banker since 2022 for the same bank.
