DUXBURY, MASSACHUSETTS: Lindsay Clancy, who has been accused of killing her three children and attempting to take her own life, will be examined by a forensic psychiatrist. Kevin Reddington, a defense lawyer for the ‘killer’ mom, reportedly shared that a Massachusetts judge will soon permit the expert examination.
The judge accepted Reddington's motion after he claimed that Clancy, 32, was overmedicated on prescribed medicines, the lawyer told Fox News Digital. She was said to be taking 12 medicines, and nine of them were zolpidem (Ambien), clonazepam, (Klonopin), diazepam (Valium), fluoxetine (Prozac), lamotrigine, (Lamictil), lorazepam, (Ativan), mirtazapine, (Remeron), quetiapine fumarate, (Seroquel) and trazodone.

Reddington shared that a toxicologist hired by him will look into “the strength of the dosages, the number of doses prescribed and how the medications interacted with each other,” the publication reported.
Lawyer says medication turned Clancy into a 'zombie’
Earlier, the lawyer had reportedly said, “One of the major issues here is the horrific overmedication of drugs that caused homicidal ideation, suicidal ideation. They [Lindsay and her husband Patrick] went to doctors repeatedly saying, ‘Please help us.’ This was turning her into a zombie... the medications that were prescribed were over the top, absolutely over the top,” before adding, “They went through hell, and they didn’t come back.”
Lindsay allegedly strangled her children on January 24 when her husband, Patrick, was not home. The older children – daughter Cora, 5, and son Dawson, 3, – died the same day while the youngest, 8-month-old Callan, died on January 27. The mother, who was a midwife, is currently being treated at a hospital while facing numerous charges, including two counts of murder, three counts of strangulation or suffocation, and three counts of assault and battery with a deadly weapon.
‘She knew it all,’ Clancy's friend says about her postpartum issues
This comes as a longtime friend of Lindsay has come forward to support her. In a Facebook post, Brittany Jeane Lyman described her as a “pure light”. In the same post, Lyman also shared a letter, which Linsay gave her years ago, as she noted, “I don’t have the words to adequately describe the kind of mother she was to her three babies, or the kind of friend she has been for the past 20 years, so the easiest thing to do is share hers.”
“Lindsay wrote me this letter when I was expecting my son and about to become a new mom. Her words are so beautiful and embody the true spirit of motherhood. I always went to her for advice during the pregnancy uncertainties, the postpartum isolation, and the scary parenting firsts. She knew it all. She knew the roller coaster all too well. She is pure light, and was still ‘all consumed’ by an inexplicable darkness,” Lyman added.
