Concept
The controversial pop star was all over the internet, thanks to the video teaser he shared on social media. In the snippet, we could see Lil Nas X trolling his infamous ‘Satan Shoes’ controversy by taking it to the court. The singer had joined hands with MSCHF in March to drop limited-edition pair of Nike Air Max 97s called ‘Satan Shoes’. The award-winning singer was in a soup after it was alleged that his Nike ‘Satan Shoes’ came with a drop of real human blood and 60 CCs of red ink in the soles.
In the video snippet, Lil Nas X addresses the Nike controversy and him being gay. He can be seen playing all the main characters. The video starts with the judge FaceTiming his girlfriend saying, "I'm bored. I'll call you back. I'm doing this little court case with Nike and this little gay (N-word)." Lil Nas X, the defendant then speaks to an attorney, also played by Lil Nas. The latter while passing the Satan Shoes says, “My client Lil Nash, what's your name again? My client Lil Nasty had nothing to do with this,” to which Lil Nas X as the prosecutor replies, “Mr. Nas X, are you gay?" Lil Nas X, the defendant then asks, “What does this have to do with the shoes?" "I'll rephrase the question," says the prosecutor. "Do yo momma know you gay?" Lil Nas then responds with a clear "yes" as the crowd gets stunned with the answer. The judge then orders the singer to “five years in Montero State Prison”.
Speaking of the controversy, Nike had decided to drag MSCHF to the court, however, both the parties later settled the dispute outside the court in April. Talking about the new song, it will feature rapper Jack Harlow on the guest verse. Interestingly, the song has been produced by hip-hop icon Kanye West and Take A Daytrip — the duo consisting of Denzel Baptiste and David Biral. They have earlier produced Lil Nas X songs like ‘Panini’, ‘Rodeo’ and ‘Holiday’.
