Lee Min-ho's show 'The King: Eternal Monarch' is much-anticipated because we will see the actor return to the screen after a three-year break. The last show that he was seen in was 'Legend of the Blue Sea' after which he was enlisted in the army and served the mandatory two years. Now, 'The King: Eternal Monarch' will arrive on Netflix and the many fans that the star has amassed with his shows 'Boys Over Flower', 'City Hunter', 'Heirs' among others can watch his comeback show the same day as its original release date in South Korea, April 17.

Netflix announced the release date with an intriguing second teaser of the show that was a montage of different characters in the show. The teaser portrays Min-ho as King Lee Gon, actor Kim Go-eun will play the role of Jung Tae-eul who is a cop in the other universe that Lee Gon enters unexpectedly and in Lee Gon's universe she is a villain who is imprisoned and her name is Luna. Woo Do-hwan plays the role of  Lee Gon's loyal bodyguard, Jo Young, in his universe and is a public service worker, Jo Eun Seop, in Tae-eul's realm.

The teaser also features a look at Goo Seo Ryung, the first woman Prime Minister in Lee Gon's universe. Her character would fall under the villain category as she tries to manipulate Lee Gon to gather support and more votes to win an election in their universe. While his universe is run by monarch it is not dated in history per se.

The show flits between Lee Gon's world and Tae-eul's world to unravel a plot of murder and mystery that is set to be intriguing because of how the two lead characters seem to meet. Lee Gon rides a horse into the Republic fo Korea and meets Tae-eul at Gwanghwamun. There is a strange connection between Lee Gon and Tae-eul, and by entering her realm, Lee Gon believes that he can finally solve the mystery behind his father's death that had occurred in his realm. He had picked up Tae-eul's id card in his realm and in the show, Lee Gon will begin by figuring out Tae-eul's connection to the palace.

The show is also expected to have an exemplary romance going by the writer's previous works which include 'Goblin' which starred Go-eun in the lead role and was her claim to fame as well. Writer Kim Eun-sook also wrote 'Heirs' which had Min-ho play the lead role and she is also the writer behind another globally popular K-Drama, 'Descendants of the Sun'.

With 'Itaewon Class' having come to an end, Netflix now has 'The King: Eternal Monarch' to keep fans of K-Drama occupied. The show will begin streaming on April 17. It is originally aired on SBS at 10 pm KST on Friday and Saturday.
