'IRONY ALERT': Lara Trump mocked for saying Will Smith 'got away' as Internet points finger back at Donald Trump
Guess the Chris Rock and Will Smith feud at the Oscars will stay fresh for some time as famous personalities continue to comment on the Oscars' iconic ‘slap’. The latest remarks come from none other than Lara Trump, the daughter-in-law of former US president Donald Trump. But Lara Trump ended up getting slammed for saying that Will Smith "got away" because he is a Hollywood celebrity.
On Friday, April 1, 2022, Lara Trump stated during her FOX news segment, “If any average person did that they would be in jail, they'd be locked up,” she added, “They would have at least been arrested or questioned by the police at this point.” Lara Trump continued saying, “It shows you that when you are a Hollywood celebrity, and this is basically what people took from this, you can get away with anything.” While her comment seems normal, why was she then bashed by netizens? Tweets referred to Donald Trump's 'Grab 'em by the p***y' remark, while calling out the "irony" of Lara Trump criticizing Will Smith for getting a free pass for his behaviour.

Many people on Twitter were taken aback as Lara Trump's father-in-law, during a 2005 interview with Access Hollywood, had said: “When you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab 'em by the p***y. You can do anything.” During the 2017 presidential election, this 2005 interview with host Billy Bush had resurfaced and Donald Trump's political opponents accused him of trying to legitimise sexual assault with his comment. This is why Lara Trump's statements have stunned the internet, with many wondering why no one on her team had pointed out the eerily similar remark before she uttered it on air.
On Twitter, users are posting lots of tweets slamming Lara Trump for her words regarding Will Smith slapping Chris Rock. One user wrote, “Given your FIL has been accused of over 20 sexual assaults, you’ll wanna sit this one out pumpkin #DemVoice1 #LiveBlue2022” while another said, “IRONY ALERT: Lara Trump Says Will Smith Didn’t Go to Jail Because Celebrities Can Get Away With Anything” This comment indirectly pointed out how Donald Trump, who has several accusations against him, continues to roam free.

Like Lara Trump says, ‘If it was an average person, they would be in jail by now’ The double standards 😉,” while another person said, “Lara Trump heard it was April Fools Day and thought she’d act like one.” One tweet stated, “This is beyond ridiculous. I just can't handle these people who let this kind of nonsense come out of their mouths without any sense of self-awareness!”
