'La Brea' certainly has its twists and turns, with some new drama and danger flaring up in each episode. The series tries to grip your attention through its parallel storytelling of what is happening in the modern world versus the events in the other land. And, at the heart of it all, is Gavin, a character that is linked to both worlds in more ways than one. However, as mysterious as this series tries to come off, the most fundamental parts of the plot seem to be rather predictable.

Confused about how the timeline works? You can catch up on the previous episodes here --  Episode 1, Episode 2 - 'Day Two', Episode 3 - 'The Hunt' and Episode 4 - 'The New Arrival'.

With Episode 8 teasing the big reveal of Gavin's past, Episode 7 essential gave that plot point away by building hype around his mysterious appearance, his redacted adoption information and the mention of a woman named 'Ella' who Gavin assumes has information. And yet, he seems to overlook pieces of his own puzzle. However, the biggest twist came at the end of Episode 8, with Rebecca Aldridge showing up in the mysterious land, trying to kidnap a child named Isiah from his alleged grandfather, Silas. So far, Silas has come across as a questionable character; seeing that he was at the scene of a murder, he was quick to attack the survivors and has also been spying on them. Rebecca, however, is no better, as she jumped out of a plane, abandoning Gavin and putting him in harm's way, while also giving him and everyone around her convenient fragments of information. Ultimately, Rebecca reveals that Isiah is Gavin and that Silas needs to be stopped. However, Gavin's role in all this seems just as vague as to how Rebecca showed up in the mysterious land, as though she had her very own access way.

The show has certainly been garnering mixed reactions from fans. On one hand, fans are thrilled with the plot twist and the latest reveal regarding Gavin's past. "Next week's episode raises the stakes of survival I love the consistency in this show so much!! #LaBrea" tweeted a fan. "The writers of tonight's #labrea episode deserve a raise😱" added another. "Gavin finds another sinkhole and sees Isish. Omg! Gavin is Isiah! #LaBrea" exclaimed a fan. "Holy sheeeeet!! This show just keeps getting better!!! Thank you @nbc for renewing #LaBrea for season 2!!! Can't wait for next week!! #LaBreaNBC" added a fan.

However, other fans weren't as thrilled with the sudden twists and argued that the show seems like it is currently all over the place. "Okay - thought I'd try to watch #LaBrea and I can't look away. Mostly because it is like a train crash. What's going on? Is it about dinosaurs? Psychics? Government cover ups?!" asked a fan. "#labrea NBC has really dipped into the bowels of cesspool TV. No creativity, No Quality Writing, No sense of realism, piss poor amateur "acting", in other words No redeeming value to La Brea - How on earth has this crap been renewed, then again its NBC so what else can you expect" argued another. "Suddenly we are worried about the space time continuum? They have been tromping around down there for days. What else have they changed in the future. #LaBrea #LabreaTV" noted a fan. "Every week I think to myself "La Brea can't possibly get dumber than this" and then it chucks its beer at me" joked another.
