K-pop icons G-Dragon from boy band Big Bang is reportedly dating singer and rapper Jennie from Blackpink, revealed a report by Dispatch. Ever since the news surfaced, K-Pop fans all over the internet are slamming the couple for their eight-year-age gap.

This comes just a month after Twice's Momo and Super Junior's Heechul faced flak for their 13-year age gap. According to reports the couple started meeting as sunbae-hoobae (senior-junior) and they were later criticized for the same.

Jennie and G-Dragon's relationship

Reportedly, G-Dragon and Jennie have been in a relationship for over a year now and it is quite an open secret within YG Entertainment — the label that represents both the stars, Dispatch stated. 

The duo reportedly meets in secret, away from the public eye, and often has stay-home dates. Jennie is often dropped off and picked up from G-Dragon's penthouse in Hannam by her manager, while G-Dragon's manager has also escorted her a few times. G-Dragon has a private parking lot and elevator at his house, which allows Jennie to visit frequently without being identified. In fact, Jennie's daily schedule reportedly includes visiting G-Dragon's home once she is done with her work. 

Why are fans slamming their age gap?

Born on January 16, 1996, Jennie Kim is 25 years old at present, while her beau G-Dragon is 32. The two have an age gap of eight years. While both are consenting adults in a mutually committed relationship, some fans took to social media to express their disapproval at the age gap. One user said that Jennie first met G-Dragon when she was a teenager. 

"kan!!! gd and jennie kinda throws me off bcs of the age gap . kai and jennie were cute," another user wrote, recalling Jennie's past relationship with Kai. "I feel like if it wasnt for their age gap and for that fact that they met when she was like 14, the reaction towards jennie and gd dating would’ve been a lot more positive? yeah shes like 25 now and has consented to dating him but i think the age difference makes ppl uncomfy?" remarked another fan.

A fan disapproved, "y’all not acting surprised enough for me bc this grown man has known her since she was young asf this is weird???? hello????" Another said, "tbh their mv made me feel uncomfortable knowing their age gap and how young jennie was then now there's a possibility their dating uhm..."

The controversy about their age gap comes on the heels of Heechul and Momo's relationship reveal. While Heechul is all of 37 years, Momo is 24, creating a 13-year age difference between the two. 

"y’all are upset about punz and andi because of their age gap? wait til y’all hear about momo and heechul," wrote one fan. "What about heechul and momo? Heechul is 37 and momo is 24," wrote another, in response to the G-Dragon and Jennie's reported relationship.

There is also a group of fans who are perfectly thrilled with the relationship reveal and are urging others to stop slamming the age-gap since both the parties are consenting adults. "i'm gonna fucking explode. g dragon knew jennie since she was a minor, does that mean he had any sexual/romantic feeling towards her? NO. momo and heechul met when she was AN ADULT. is it so hard to understand? both are grown adults now. WHERE THE FUCK IS THE PROBLEM," one fan posted.

"i hope y’all realize that jennie and GD as well as heechul and momo are GROWN ASS ADULTS who can make decisions for themselves. so what if there’s an age gap? neither party in either of the couples are underage. it shouldn’t matter if adults date adults??? it ain’t that deep yall," another added.
