'Pearl Harbor and 9/11?': Karine Jean-Pierre trolled for saying Jan 6 'worst attack on dem since Civil War'
WASHINGTON DC, WASHINGTON: White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre reiterated her condemnation of "the worst attack on our democracy since the Civil War" following the House Select Committee on Investigations' criminal referrals to the Justice Department on Monday against former President Donald Trump.
Jean-Pierre briefed reporters about an hour after the committee announced several proposed charges against Trump in connection with the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021, including obstructing an official action, conspiring to defraud the US, conspiring to fabricate facts, and encouraging, aiding, or encouraging an insurrection.

However, Karine has recently been receiving a lot of criticism for her statement. She claimed the January 6 storming of the Capitol was the "worst attack" on democracy since the Civil War, ignoring the fact that Pearl Harbor and 9/11 were major attacks that caused horrific chaos in the country.
Karine said during the press conference, "We've been very clear from the beginning that what we saw on January 6 was the worst attack on our democracy since the Civil War, and the president has been very clear our democracy continues and remains under threat."
In response to that, she has been receiving a lot of criticism across the internet, as one Twitter user said, "KJP said today that January 6 was the worst attack on our democracy since the Civil War. Even if you accept that January 6 was some awful event, which I don't, did Pearl Harbor and 9/11 not happen? This is one of the dumbest things she's ever said." Another user tweeted, "She should write comic books." One user slammed her statement and wrote, "I watched J6 happen on TV and thought, that's dumb. Not really the same as watching planes crash into towers and people jumping from buildings before they ultimately fell and thousands died."

The government is still looking into damages to the Capitol building and grounds, as well as other losses from the structure breach. The Capitol building sustained damage from the storming that was estimated to be worth $1.5 million in May 2021 by the Architect of the Capitol, as reported by the Department of Justice.
