Kim Kardashian says 'people got mad' that she didn't say 'f**k you, Balenciaga' after ad scandal
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It looks like the Balenciaga controversy is still not over. Last month, the French luxury brand was under some serious fire after its spring collection photoshoot featured children alongside BDSM-themed bears. The campaign pictures were eventually taken down by the luxury brand and they apologized as well, but the Internet was fuming over the controversy. They instantly demanded Kim Kardashian cancel the brand and end her working relations with it. Now in her recent interview, Kim explains how she is still facing harsh criticism for not saying "f**k you, Balenciaga" or canceling the brand.
The 42-year-old reality star appeared in Monday's episode of the Angie Martinez IRL Podcast. She said, "Because I didn't say, ‘f*ck you, Balenciaga’ people got mad at that. So it's like, they're mad if I don't speak out. They're mad if I do speak out, and if I don't cancel. They're just mad that if you don't cancel someone in today's society." She continued, "There is absolutely no place or an ounce to even play with anything with children like any sexualization of children. There’s not an ounce of that should be in our brains, in our society. I get that. I couldn’t have been more clear, this is horrifying, this is disturbing." She explained how "there will be people who have a problem" with whatever she says despite her explanation in the Instagram story where she addressed the highly-controversial campaign.

"You don't want to be a part of the narrative, but you're brought in," Kim added. "But then I have to take responsibility and say, 'OK, people look at me as the face of this, so let me speak out.' I just always want to do the right thing."
Kim Kardashian's comments on Balenciaga's campaign
The SKIMS founder previously said about the campaign, "As a mother of four, I have been shaken by those disturbing images. The safety of children must be held with the highest regard and anything against it should have no place in our society - period." However, she stated that she was re-evaluating her relationship with the brand which sent the people on social media into a frenzy. She further wrote, "As for my future with Balenciaga, I am currently re-evaluating my relationship with the brand."
Balenciaga's creative director Demna Gvasalia also apologized saying, "I want to personally apologize for the wrong artistic choice of concept for the gifting campaign with the kids and I take my responsibility. It was inappropriate to have kids promote objects that had nothing to do with them...I need to learn from this, listen and engage with child protection organizations to know how I can contribute and help on this terrible subject. I apologize to anyone offended by the visuals and Balenciaga has guaranteed that adequate measures will be taken not only to avoid similar mistakes in the future but also to take accountability in protecting child welfare in every way we can."
