Tragedy strikes family as mom dies in car crash years after her 2-yr-old son was killed by partner
BALGA, AUSTRALIA: A woman, who died in a horror crash in Balga which left three others injured, has been identified as 31-year-old Kerry Bodney. She was the passenger in a BMW sedan which allegedly sped through a red light at the intersection of Beach Rd and Mirrabooka Ave, and collided with Mitsubishi Magna about 11.30 am on Wednesday, April 12. Bodney was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital with critical injuries, where she later died.
The police stated that the alleged driver of the BMW sped away from the scene of the crash, before being arrested later in Mirrabooka. The driver was then taken to hospital for the treatment of injuries received in the crash. He was reported to be in a serious but stable condition on evening of the crash, reports Perth Now. While three victims, two men in their eighties and twenties and a woman in her fifties, were also taken to Joondalup Health Campus with non-life-threatening injuries.

Who was Kerry Bodney?
Bodney was a mother-of-one, a two-year-old son Robert who was killed by her former partner Wayne Narkle in December 2012. For which, the Narkle was sentenced to at least 15 years prison in 2014. Following her death, tributes started pouring on social media by friends and family remembering her and her son. One friend wrote, “RIP my sister Kerry Teqan Bodney my heart fell out ta my chest hearing the new my sister your with your son now sister so rest easy love you girl. You've been my sister girl since primary school and all the memories of us are always gonna be with me I just cant believe it true it all seems like a lie. Sending my love and condolences to Kerry's family." Another wrote, "Never forgotten, always remembered heaven has gained a angel Kerry Teqan Bodney. May you be reunited with lil bubba Robert, rest peacefully." Remembering her, one more individual said, "I am completely and utterly shattered, I can't believe it.. I don't want too I can't find enough words to make this to be really a reality right now. From the moment we met, we just clicked, I instantly thought who is this straight out madness and the truest sister. I am [going to] miss you so much ... such and inspiration of strength, resilience of a beautiful soul that has been taken way too soon that I'm sure touched many, many others as well. "
Accused driver charged with manslaughter
Meanwhile, the 27-year-old driver has been charged with manslaughter, failure to stop and ensure assistance was received after an incident occasioning death and failure to report an incident occasioning death. He is due to face court on April 13, as per 7News.
