The video shows Hannaford, 36, tripping and faceplanting into the field, while her blue dress rises up and reveals her underwear
Katie Hannaford, a 36-year-old mother faceplanted during a parents' race and flashed her underwear to the entire crowd of teachers, parents, and students on Wednesday, June 15. As per reports, Hannaford's eight-year-old daughter convinced her to take part in the school event race.
The video shows Hannaford, from Basildon, Essex, running with the other mothers, but seconds later she loses her footing and trips. While she faceplants into the field, her light blue dress rises up over her head and reveals her underwear. Though she was mortified at first, Hannaford now finds it hilarious.
"I'm not sporty at all, but [my daughter] kept begging me. In the end, I agreed to the race – I knew I'd come last. I just tripped over my own feet – I think my body was just moving too fast for my legs! I'm so clumsy, I'm always falling over," said the homeware company owner, as per Lad Bible.
"I was humiliated at the time, but it is what it is! I flashed my underwear which is obviously embarrassing but you just have to own it. Looking back, it's hilarious – definitely the funniest thing I've ever done in my life!" Hannaford added. She shared the clip on her Facebook account and wrote, "When the kids got more at sports day than they were expecting! Haha. If you can't laugh at yourself then what’s life about ay! Sorry kiddo's and anyone else watching! [x3 laughing face emoji]."
The video went viral with over 571k views on Hannaford's post alone and hundreds of comments on the embarrassing yet hilarious incident. One user wrote, "We have all been there [monkey covering face emoji] good on you for laughing it off! X" Another said, "Good on you for being such a good sport about your mooning incident... if you can't laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at?" A third commented, "You're a great sport! Glad you are okay [smiling face emoji]."
A fourth replied, "It's a great thing that you were trying to take part and there is certainly nothing to be ashamed. Feel proud [smiling face emoji]." A fifth felt, "I love your attitude to this [two hearts emoji] it could actually happen anyone... and it is so funny because you're such a sport about it [laughing face emoji]." A sixth said, "You are great sport and you taught a precious lesson to all kids who may find themselves on a kind-of humiliating situation. Kudoz Katie!"
