Kate Gosselin is 'happy' and 'at peace' as she moves into modest home amid estrangement from son Collin
NORTH CAROLINA, UNITED STATES: Kate Gosselin has taken a drastic step to change her lifestyle. She has moved from a nearly 24-acre, 7,300-square-foot home in Pennsylvania to a 0.88-acre, 3,560-square-foot modest home in North Carolina.
An insider confirmed to NY Post that the 'Kate Plus' alum is "very happy and at peace" in her new pared-down lifestyle. The news comes after her estranged son Collin recently spoke out about his lack of a relationship with his mother, which began before he was committed for behavioral issues in early 2018.

“Even before [being] there, I don’t think we had much of a relationship, and I think that just kept tearing it even more down,” Collin spoke to Entertainment Tonight on Monday, December 5, where he blamed the distance between the mother-son duo on “TV and what being in the public eye does to a family.” The 18-year-old, who starred in his parents’ reality series 'Jon & Kate Plus 8' with his siblings for nearly a decade beginning from 2007 to 2017, spoke, “I think it tore us apart. It gave us less time to actually be together as a family [and] more time to be in the public eye.”
According to the outlet, Gosselin had been planning to move to North Carolina years ago. The reality TV star reportedly purchased the four-bedroom, five-bathroom waterfront home in the North Carolina town of Troutman for $750,000 in 2018, as per records ascertained by the NY Post. The move was recorded shortly before she lost custody of her son, Collin, and later, Hannah. Three years down the line, on February 26, 2021, she sold her long-time Pennsylvania estate at a bargain of $1.085 million. Kate was initially hoping to score $1.3 million when she first listed the home in 2020.
In 2008, Jon and Kate purchased the massive six-bedroom, seven-bathroom Wernersville, PA, property for $1.12 million, only a year before the pair got divorced. According to the previous listing, Kate’s new and smaller home, situated on Lake Norman, includes an owner’s suite with dual bathrooms. “All lakeside rooms have doors leading out to the covered veranda for easy access to lake life,” the previous listing confirmed. The downsized house also includes a pool, hot tub, and an extended garage underneath the veranda.
Kate Gosselin is a mother to eight kids including 22-year-old twins Cara and Madelyn, and 18-year-old sextuplets Hannah, Collin, Joel, Aaden, Alexis, and Leah.
