The president of Disney’s General Entertainment, Karey Burke, has come under fire after saying her son told her that the entertainment company should get better with the fact that “Gen-Z is 30-40 percent queerer”. She also admitted that Disney’s plan to be more inclusive towards LGBTQ+ is a business decision.

Burke’s comments came during one of Disney's 'Reimagine Tomorrow' forums. The forum’s mission is reportedly to serve as “our way of amplifying underrepresented voices and untold stories as well as championing the importance of accurate representation in media and entertainment.”

During a session, the clip of which has been shared on Twitter by journalist Christopher Rufo, Burke recalled the time when she was leading Disney's cable channel Freeform and how it made business sense. She said, “It was very much in the brand ethos of Freeform to be the tip of the spear when it comes to inclusion. And we jumped up and down, we celebrated that, nobody stopped us, and it felt great.”

She continued: “In part, I think, nobody stopped us because we were targeting Gen-Z and Millennials. We were targeting a younger, I think more open minded... And now we know, as my son texted me this morning: 'Gen-Z is 30-40 percent queerer than other generations Mom, so Disney better get with it.’”

However, it seems Burke’s “wokeism” has not impressed many on the internet as a user slammed, “I have owned 500 shares of Disney stock for 23 years, as a wedding gift from my father. I am disgusted with the stupidity of Karey Burke's statements and she ought to be fired for tarnishing the Disney brand. Please communicate that.”  A second one wrote: “Karey Burke is evil trash. Apparently a piss-poor mother, too. #Disneyphile #wokedisney.”

One person tweeted: “Disney President Karey Burke says she has one pansexual child and a transgender child. This is her attempt at trying to move from ‘what did I do wrong? Is it my fault?’ to ‘it's just perfectly normal and everyone else is wrong’.” Another one noted: “We're not rich, however, we did go to Disney World, we bought Disney movies, and we had Disney Plus. Now, we canceled Disney Plus, we won't be buying or going to the movies from Disney, and more no parks. Thank you #KareyBurke.”

“I'm done @Disney / @disneyplus . Enough of the woke garbage. So sick of it being pounded down our throats while you tell us that you're not pounding it down our throats. @hulu is gone too. Thank Karey Burke. My opinions are mine. If you need to bounce...👍#ByeDisney #CancelDisney,” another added.

A tweet read, “I will stop paying my @disneyplus subscription if Karey Burke is not stopped or fired. Stop this sexual diversity madness in children entertainment. #stopkareyburke.” Another stated, “#kareyburke continue trying to indoctrinate my children and you will lose customers! Our first job as parents is to protect our children you are no longer trusted! I will be screening everything now that you guys post on Disney!”
