Meter reader brutally mauled to death by 3 guard dogs on front lawn of home that had a WARNING sign
BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA: A contractor for Energex was fatally mauled by dogs in Logan, a suburb of Brisbane, as he was inspecting electricity meters, according to police. Reports of a dog attack on Ison Road in Greenbank, Logan on December 3, at 10.47 am, prompted a call to the police. Kane Minion, 42, was discovered unconscious in the front yard of a property with severe injuries. He eventually died at the scene of the attack.
Three dogs were discovered by police on the property. According to Courier-Mail, a Bandog Bullmastiff and a Rhodesian Ridgeback were seized by council animal control personnel. The house owners weren't at home when the incident took place. Police have temporarily closed Ison Road while detectives and crime personnel perform their investigations.

As per Daily Mail Australia, visitors were cautioned about the property's dangerous animals by a sign that was put on the front gate. The sign said, "WARNING: Guard dogs on duty do not enter." Minion loved dogs and was about to marry Toni Baird, his fiancee prior to his horrifying demise. His Facebook profile image is a photograph of him with a Staffordshire Bull Terrier. He had been dating Baird for less than a year when he proposed to her on December 24, 2021. At the time of his death, they were less than three weeks away from their one-year engagement anniversary.
Downer Group, an energy company, verified that Minion was employed by their Skilltech division as a meter reader, as reported by Australian Broadcasting Corporation. "Details of the incident are still being examined, and a police investigation is underway," the spokesperson said. "Downer is extremely saddened by this tragic loss. Kane has worked with Downer's Skilltech metering business for more than seven years, and was a popular member of the team. Downer extends our deepest sympathies to Kane's family, and we will support them through this incredibly difficult time," they added.
Kevin Lavender, Energex’s Brisbane south area manager, said the company would “work closely” with police to “gain a full understanding” about what had happened. “These are situations that affect a lot of people and our hearts go out to his family and workmates,” he said. “We all go to work every day with safety front of mind but sometimes something completely unexpected can occur," Lavender added.
According to acting Inspector Gary Worrell, Work Safe Australia had been informed of the tragic incident and a report was being written for the coroner. He said, "Our hearts go out to the family of the deceased male from Marsden and it's also a difficult time for the owners who are attached to their dogs at that residence. The matter has already been reported to Work Safe and they'll run a parallel investigation with us as well. Energex has a very good system where they email and communicate with the owners of known places where dogs are used for the protection of family homes or where they know there's aggressive dogs. I believe that is the case before a contract goes to one of these residences or businesses so the dogs can be put away."
