Where does one look for when all hope seems elusive? Netflix's latest musical dramedy hopes to answer this question with a refreshing series about "embracing life's ups and downs, following your dreams, and discovering the power of your own voice."

Julie has lost all passion for music that she once used to have. Now, following the tragic death of her mother, she no longer finds it of any importance. But this soon changes when some ghosts help her rediscover that passion. Embark on this magical musical journey as Julie finds her fire again.

Plot

According to the official synopsis of the series, "High schooler Julie (Madison Reyes) lost her passion for music after her mom died last year. But when the ghosts of three dreamy musicians (Charlie Gillespie, Owen Patrick Joyner, Jeremy Shada) from 1995 suddenly appear in her mom's old music studio, Julie feels her own inner spirit beginning to reawaken, and she's inspired to start singing and writing songs again. As their friendship with Julie grows, the boys convince her to create a new band together: Julie and the Phantoms."

Cast

Madison Reyes stars in the titular character of Julie, a high schooler who lost her passion for music after her mom died the year before. Charlie Gillespie (known for 'Runt' and 'Charmed'), Jeremy Shada (best known for lending his voice to Finn the Human from 'Adventure Time') and Owen Patrick Joyner (known for playing Crispo Powers '100 Things to Do Before High School' and Arc on 'Knight Squad') stars as the Phantoms who show up out of the blue to help her rediscover her passion for music. 

Creators 

According to the official statement from Netflix, 'Julie and the Phantoms' comes from Emmy and DGA Award-winning director and choreographer Kenny Ortega (known for 'High School Musical', 'Descendants') and choreographer Paul Becker ('Descendants', 'Mirror Mirror'). 

'Julie and the Phantoms' is based on the original Brazilian series 'Julie e os Fantasmas' written by Paula Knudsen, Tiago Mello, and Fabio Danesi. Dan Cross and David Hoge (The Thundermans, Pair of Kings) serve as showrunners and executive producers on the series, alongside executive producers George Salinas and Jaime Aymerich of Crossover Entertainment. Michel Tikhomiroff and Fabio Danesi for Mixer Entertainment also serve as executive producers.
