Julia Wandelt: Woman who claims she is Madeleine McCann has $48K bounty on her head, spokesperson claims
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Julia Wandelt, the young Polish woman who thinks she is the missing British child Madeleine McCann, is reportedly receiving constant threats to her life. Fia Johansson, a private detective and self-professed psychic who flew Wandelt to the US, claimed someone had placed a $48,000 bounty on her head.
However, despite the apparent death threats, Wandelt, who also uses the surnames Wendell and Faustyna, is said to be "enjoying her new lifestyle" in California as she was "getting into a healthy lifestyle both mentally and physically." It was not clear why she was in Los Angeles, but some reports suggested she was planning to undergo a DNA test there and find out once and for all whether or not she was actually the Leicester-born toddler.

$48,000 bounty on her head
Johansson shared a number of photos of Wandelt having a good time in LA with captions stating that she was helping the 21-year-old to "let go of the past and live in the moment." According to the Irish Mirror, it was possible that Wandelt relocated to the US on safety grounds, especially after Johansson said that she had received ”countless threats and hate mail," and someone online had allegedly placed a $48,000 bounty on her head. The Polish woman reportedly took down her social media accounts due to the relentless violent threats.
'I love you USA'
Taking to Johansson's Instagram account, Wandelt said, “Thanks for the extra protection USA. I love you USA." Johansson added, "I love my country. There's safety and security. The care about me and Julia at the moment is very high." The psychic also warned the people who made threats against Julia could face legal consequences. “We’ve officially filed a report with law enforcement taking into account all the threats made online, documenting every account and individual associated with disseminating threats and falsehoods regarding Julia's case and status,” she said on her Instagram Stories, adding, “We've shared every email and social media account that's communicated directly with Julia, not threatening or attempting to lie about their connection to her family/Madeleine's family in order to lure her to their country.”
“As with threats of this magnitude, US police are taking her case seriously and looking into all information/accounts with caution and deep concern," Johansson continued, adding, "Julia is safe and she is happy. She wants to say thank you to everyone that has shown her compassion, understanding, and support since this all began. Having the police involved in her case now is good news. We also will share some positive updates shortly. Thank you all for your care and positive thoughts for Julia!
'She is getting the truth'
According to the Mirror, Wandelt's claims have caused a major rift with her family back in Poland. Her mother has outright refused to consider requests for a DNA test. Johansson shared images of the 21-year-old earlier this week showing her playing the piano at a property in LA and said that they were "getting the truth" behind the mystery of her origins. “Julia enjoying the sunlight," she said. "I'm so happy for this beautiful angel that finally found some peace. Past seven days, she has been so anxious, so worried, and so lonely. At this moment, she is happy she is not alone, and she is getting the truth," the so-called psychic added.
