Juanita Broaddrick, once famously known as the woman who accused Bill Clinton of rape, found herself in Twitter purgatory on April 11, 2022. Broaddrick joins the ranks of Marjorie Taylor Greene, Donald Trump, and other right-wing icons as a banned individual, thanks to a rather controversial take on Covid-19 vaccines. Her ban was immediately met with widespread applause, as other users cheered the social media company.

As in other cases, Twitter has taken an extremely hard-line stance against vaccine misinformation. On January 2, 2022, Rep. Greene had her personal account suspended for tweeting, "Healthy employees are fired, not based on job performance, but vax status." Two days later, the social network giant kicked out Dr Robert Malone for equating the vaccine to Nazism. Weeks later, YouTube was forced to boot Dan Bongino over his Covid lies.

While the company has been willing to overlook some other controversial tweets, it clearly has no tolerance for vaccine misinformation. That's the crux of the case against Broaddrick after she decided to continue attacking the Covid vaccines.

Why was Juanita Broaddrick banned?

The former nursing administrator confirmed her booting to Fox News, sharing photos of the notification she was sent. On April 9, Broaddrick tweeted, "When will this vaccine crap be over? Big Pharma has profited enough for the next hundred years. Stop pushing vaccines that don’t work and alter DNA." It doesn't appear as if this is a permanent ban, as in the case of Trump and Greene.

In its email to Broaddrick, Twitter said she could remove the offending tweet if she wanted to have her account restored. It indicates that this is the first strike against her or a second. We do not know for sure if Broaddrick has been called up before, because neither Twitter nor Broaddrick confirmed if this was the first time her account was suspended. Broaddrick did not provide any more information, so for now that's all we know.

While some celebrate, others condemn Twitter

"Wondering why Juanita Broaddrick has been suspended from Twitter? Here's what I think happened; she's a vulgar Qanon conspiracy theory believing misinformation spreader who had been warned time & time again about violating Twitter policies. There you have it," one user slammed in response to the news.

Another trolled, "Thank the Gods Juanita Broaddrick finally got suspended. Her hateful, conspiracy spreading a*s won’t be missed. At least not by me or anyone else that doesn’t run with the crowd of bigoted lowlifes who are her fans." A third tweeted, "Juanita Broaddrick is a human zip code of bigotry, hate and racism."

As expected, others also slammed Twitter for the ban. "People should not be suspended on Twitter for expressing their opinions, bring Juanita Broaddrick back!" tweeted Brigitte Gabriel. Another responded, "Hey whoever is in charge over there at the virtually abandoned Twitter HQ, I'm going to need an explanation... Juanita Broaddrick suspended??? For wut?" Another said, "F**K. First, they suspend @JackPosobiec for 12 hours for stating facts about Disney and now they permanently suspended Juanita Broaddrick? This website has gone to hell."
