Joy Behar slammed for being worried the Russian-Ukraine crisis might affect her Italian getaway
'The View' host Joy Behar stirred outrage on Thursday, February 24 after she complained that the war in Ukraine might disrupt her Italian getaway. The liberal commentator, 79, whined about her holiday getting ruined on the ABC chat show with co-host Sunny Hostin during a segment discussing Russia launching its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
As part of the discussion, co-host Sunny Hostin talking about the warfare in eastern Europe said, "Estimates are 50,000 Ukranians will be dead or wounded and this is going to start a refugee crisis in Europe. We're talking about 5 million people that are going to be displaced. It's heartbreaking to hear what is going to happen."

Behar tried to bring the discussion towards western Europe, specifically her apparent plans to travel to Italy, located about 1,500 miles from where Russian forces were bombing its neighbor. "I'm scared of what's going to happen in western Europe, too. You plan a trip, you want to go there, I've wanted to go to Italy for four years and I haven't been able to make it because of the pandemic and now this. It's like, what's gonna happen there?". Social media users quickly pounced on Behar's apparent disregard for anyone else's circumstances.
Broadcaster Liz Wheeler posted the video, writing: "I literally can’t believe Joy Behar said this." Ida Tavakoli commented, "You almost have to respect Joy Behar’s unwavering commitment toward ensuring that boomers are the most hated generation alive." Karol Markowicz, NY Post and Fox News columnist asked, "Did Putin even stop to think how his invasion would affect Joy Behar’s trip to Italy?". A Twitter user wrote, " God grant me the absolute confidence and egocentricity of Joy Behar complaining that a war ruined her vacation plans while the bombs are still literally dropping."
Sports commentator @KFCBarstool added, "The true horror of the worldwide pandemic and Russia invading Ukraine? Joy Behar hasn’t been able to take her trip to Italy. Thoughts and Prayers for Joy. We hope she makes it through this tragedy." YouTuber Brandon Herrera tweeted, "War sucks and all, but what if Joy Behar can’t vacation to Italy? I mean Ukrainians should really stop getting selfishly blown up." Another Twitter added, "Unbelievable. Humanitarian crisis in Ukraine as war rages on, and Joy Behar jumps to concerns about not being able to vacation in Italy. Impressive leap!"

This is just the most recent controversy for the decades-long ABC talk show. Whoopi Goldberg, 66, missed eight episodes after ABC announced it was benching the comedian for two weeks following her last broadcast on February 1, where she apologized for saying the Holocaust was "not about race" on the previous day's show.
