Johnny Depp fans have claimed that the text messages where the actor appeared to say a woman's sex organs were "rightfully mine" weren't sent by him as they were marked as "incoming."

Amber Heard's lawyer Benjamin Rottenborn raised eyebrows on Wednesday, May 25, after he presented messages from February 2017 that he said were sent by Depp to a former personal assistant. The courtroom battle between exes is expected to end on Friday, May 27. Depp, 58, is seeking more than $50 million in damages over a 2018 Washington Post op-ed in which Heard, 36, claimed to be a domestic abuse survivor. While the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star was not mentioned in the article, his lawyers have argued the implications were obvious and damaged their client's career prospects. Heard has countersued for $100 million.

As mentioned, Rottenborn presented a number of text messages that he claimed were sent by Depp to a former personal assistant. "Molly's p---- is RIGHTFULLY MINE!!!!" Depp purportedly wrote. "Should I not just bust in and remove the hinges tonight???" The lawyer questioned the 'Donnie Brasco' star about the message in a heated exchange during his defamation trial with his ex-wife.

"You've said before that if you want to be with a woman sexually, that she is 'rightfully yours,' haven't you?" Rottenborn asked, referring to graphic text messages describing sex.

"That's ludicrous," Depp replied.

"You've also said that with respect to women that you want to be with, you've remarked, 'I need, I want, I take," Heard's attorney continued.

"Equally as ludicrous," Depp responded, denying he sent the texts. Instead, he claimed Heard's lawyer might have "screwed with" the texts. "You could have typed it up last night," Depp said.

"I can assure you, I didn't type it up last night," Rottenborn replied.

Meanwhile, Depp also said he doesn't "know who Molly is" as he took the stand Wednesday.

While Depp's own attorneys did not offer evidence or suggest the text messages were doctored, eagle-eyed fans on social media pointed to a glaring disparity that may have gone unnoticed.

"The messages that Amber Heard's team read to Johnny Depp and he denied ARE NOT HIS. Here, for example, is a message that is his. It is OUTGOING. The others are INCOMING," one tweeted.

"Can someone explain this to me because either I am stupid or this is a blatant mistake? Was Amber Heard's team trying to make Johnny Depp admit to sending a text message that was marked as "incoming" instead of "outgoing" on his phone? #JusticeForJohnnyDeep #DeppVsHeard," another wrote.

"How did Amber Heard's legal team mix this up?? These messages are TO Johnny Depp, not FROM Johnny Depp. The direction is INCOMING not OUTGOING. They're in a rush for time and are clawing at straws now. Pity," a comment read.

"Looks more like a message #AmberHeard sent, to try setting up #JohnnyDepp! Make it seem like they were his texts, but forgot we can see "Incoming" (received) rather than sent out! Look at the language used! 'I want, I need...'" someone else offered.

"#AmberTurd tried to pull a fast one on Johnny Depp in court today. What type of s*** lawyer can you be if you can't see the word incoming on a text message," another chimed in.
