White House press secretary Jen Psaki has raised eyebrows once again. This time, she is under fire for a tweet she wrote last year in which she used a homophobic slur for Republican Senator Lindsey Graham. With the tweet only recently unearthed by social media users, it has caused outrage on the site as many flocked to vent their anger.

Referring to Graham as "LadyG", Psaki wrote, "Only in 2020 does #LadyG get to push a bunch of debunked conspiracy theories while questioning @SallyQYates (aka an American hero)". Psaki sent this tweet out on August 5, 2020. It was when former acting attorney general Sally Yates was going to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee, which Graham heads.

Despite the increasing outrage surrounding the tweet, Psaki had not taken the tweet down, neither has she responded to requests for comments on the issue.

"If you want to know what a media double standard looks like, Jen Psaki, as a CNN employee, can tweet this, get hired to be a White House Press Secretary, and not even feel compelled to delete it after it was unsurfaced a few days ago. She doesn’t care. She’s on the same team," Fourth Watch editor Steve Krakauer wrote.

Psaki's tweet appeared to be a reference to a 2020 Washington Post article that detailed allegations made on Twitter by gay porn star Sean Harding against Graham. Critics of the Republican senator on the left have long used homophobic slurs against Graham, insinuating that he's a closeted gay man because he is single.

Safe to say that Psaki's tweet against the South Carolina lawmaker has made most of Twitter furious. "Homophobia and intolerance from the Left is growing. This should be widely condemned. @PressSec" Richard Grenell wrote on Twitter. "The White House @PressSec joked *last year* that Lindsey Graham is a trans woman. But because he's a Republican, CNN and MSNBC won't raise hell over this. Therefore, they're okay with actual transphobia," another added.

"Very disappointed someone in her position would embrace this style politics. It says more about her than it does about Senator Graham," Kevin Bishop, spokesman for Sen. Graham, reportedly told Fox News.

Many on social media are also calling for Psaki's resignation in light of the tweet and the homophobic slur. "Hey Jen, Referring to Lindsey Graham as #LadyG is homophobic and you should step down immediately. #JenPsaki@PressSec SCANDAL: White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki Under Fire For Tweeting Homophobic Slur About Lindsey Graham," one tweeted. "@LindseyGrahamSC Jen Psaki should apologize to Lindsey Graham for her homophobic slur and then be fired - what's wrong with Biden who pushes this "unity" BS and then says nothing when weirdos in his party tee off on Republicans because they just don't like them ..." another added. "@PressSec u are a nasty homophobic racist and u need to resign ur post, hater," another user tweeted.

At the same time, many social media users believe that Psaki's words and opinions are a reflection of President Joe Biden's administration as a whole. "Jen Psaki is the perfect embodiment of the Biden admin. making high school-tier homophobic jokes instead of making an substantive critique of GOP ideology," one tweeted.

For the record, Graham had said in 2018 that he was not gay after comedian-turned-activist Chelsea Handler wrote homophobic tweets against him. Graham reportedly told TMZ, "She knowns zero about me...[her tweets], I don't think they reflect well on her," adding, "To the extent that it matters, I'm not gay."
