Joe Biden made a statement on the Omicron Covid-19 variant that is reportedly spreading at an alarming rate in South Africa. He then announced air travel restrictions to and from SA and seven other African nations. "As a precautionary measure until we have more information, I am ordering additional air travel restrictions from South Africa and seven other countries. These new restrictions will take effect on November 29. As we move forward, we will continue to be guided by what the science and my medical team advises," a part of the statement read.

He also pushed for global vaccinations, asking other countries to donate as much as they can towards fulfilling the goal. "Finally, for the world community: the news about this new variant should make clearer than ever why this pandemic will not end until we have global vaccinations. The United States has already donated more vaccines to other countries than every other country combined. It is time for other countries to match America’s speed and generosity," he wrote. He urged the nations joining the World Trade Organization's ministerial meeting next week to work with the US and push for waiving off intellectual property protection for the vaccines so they could be produced globally. "I endorsed this position in April; this news today reiterates the importance of moving on this quickly," he said referencing the spread of Omicron strain.

Joe Biden slammed for declaring travel ban for which he questioned Trump in 2020

Months before 2020's presidential elections and two days before America addressed Covid-19 as a global pandemic and took certain emergency actions, Biden criticized the Trump administration. On March 13, he tweeted, "A wall will not stop the coronavirus. Banning all travel from Europe — or any other part of the world — will not stop it. This disease could impact every nation and any person on the planet — and we need a plan to combat it." Biden's decision has left many furious and they took to Twitter to express how they feel about it.

"JOE BIDEN JUST IMPOSED AN AFRICAN TRAVEL BAN RACIST! RACIST! RACIST!" Republican Lavern Spicer wrote. "PSA: If Trump can be called racist for his early travel ban on China, then Joe Biden is a bonafide, SERIAL-RACIST for issuing a travel ban on eight African nations, where the overwhelming majority of people are Black!" another declared. "I'm old enough to remember when Trump issued a travel ban, it was xenophobic and racist. Now Biden does it and it's acceptable?" tweeted a third. Pro-Trumper, Lauren Boebert, tweeted, "Biden has just announced a travel ban on 8 African nations due to the new Omicron variant of COVID. Suddenly travel bans aren’t xenophobic? Does this also apply to the illegals at the Southern Border or are they exempt as usual?" Another Twitter user asked, "Biden has just announced a travel ban on 8 African nations due to the new Omicron variant of COVID. Suddenly travel bans aren’t xenophobic? Does this also apply to the illegals at the Southern Border or are they exempt as usual?"
