Horror unfolded at a high school in Oxford, Michigan, after a 15-year-old boy shot three students dead and injured eight more on Tuesday, November 30. The teenager, who is currently in custody, led the school shooting that claimed the lives of Tate Myre, 16, Madisyn Baldwin, 17, and Hanna St Julian, 14. Eight others, including a teacher, were critically injured from gunshot wounds and two of them needed surgery.

The school authorities are now being slammed on social media for ignoring the prior offenses committed by the suspect, who also maintained a countdown to the shooting on his Instagram profile. However, some students reportedly sensed trouble beforehand and decided to stay home on November 30. Among them was the son of Oakland County Democratic Party Chair Jody Job.

According to Detroit Free Press, there had been rumors of a possible attack in the school for the past few days. Some students, who got alerted beforehand, decided not to attend classes due to the prior warnings. Jody Job, a Democratic candidate for the State House in 2020, revealed that her son chose to avoid school on Tuesday as "he felt like something was going to go down."

Job's son was not alone. Robin Redding, whose son is in the 12th grade at Oxford High School, also shared, "He was not in school today. He just said that 'Ma I don't feel comfortable. None of the kids that we go to school with are going today."

Though Job or Redding did not claim that they were aware of a possible school shooting, they are being heavily criticized for not taking any action in advance. Meanwhile, Jody Job condemned the act in a tweet posted after the tragedy, as she wrote, "My son’s school. 3 dead and others injured. Names of kids I know. I just can’t get over how truly sickening this is. Robbed of their future. Their loved ones. How utterly desolate our country seems to be when we continue to let these horrific tragedies occur and do nothing."

She also shared another tweet by Shannon Watts condemning gun violence, which said, "Why does the motive of a 15-year-old child matter??? Every nation is home to disgruntled teens. Only America gives them easy access to arsenals and ammunition. What media should be asking is, “HOW DID A STUDENT ACCESS A SEMIAUTOMATIC HANDGUN AND MAGAZINES?” Oxford High School"
