Mental status change
According to the Cooper County Sheriff's probable cause statement obtained by The Eagle News 939, Fangmann's husband claims she experienced a "mental status change" when they were traveling on I-70 and took a huge butcher knife out of her handbag. According to her husband, Fangmann allegedly murmured "please forgive me" before turning back and attempting to stab her two children. Her husband instantly stopped the car on I-70 near Boonville after suffering a hand injury and took the children out before two other drivers pulled over to offer help. Fangmann is reported to have gotten into the vehicle and sped off leading police on a chase into the median before crashing into a culvert after allegedly trying to cross into oncoming traffic.
Moment of psychosis
MEAWW reported earlier, a Duxubry mother, Lindsay Clancy, 32 killed her three children in a similar scenario when she experienced a "moment of psychosis" while alone with her children on January 24, 2022. She reportedly told her husband, Patrick Clancy — who found his children Cora, five, Dawson, three, and seven-month-old Callan lying in the basement of their house — she heard a male voice telling her to murder herself and the children as it was her last chance. According to Evie Magazine, the youngsters were all strangled with an exercise resistance band around their necks.
Ligament strangulation is said to have killed Cora and Dawson. The children may have lost consciousness somewhere between 10 to 1 minute ago. Seven-month-old Callan's heart rate was revived before he was brought to the medical facility. However his brain wasn't functioning, so the child was kept on life support for a few days before he died.
