Jason Collier: Texas police chief's wife Opal Collier files for divorce after he was outed as a serial cheat
Former Texas police chief Jason Collier's wife has reportedly filed for divorce after finding out he was a serial cheat and had two girlfriends on the side. Opal Collier, who removed herself from social media after being humiliated by the drama, has now moved the courts to ditch her husband.
"On Monday, February 1, 2021, Opal Collier filed a petition for divorce against her husband, Jason Collier," Opal's lawyers said in a statement. "As a result of local, national and global attention that has been given to this case via social media and other sources, Mrs. Collier has discontinued the use of all social media accounts in her name for the foreseeable future."
Opal has remained tight-lipped as her husband's secrets were unraveled and became a viral topic on the internet. Collier's scandalous love life was revealed when Cecily Steinmetz, one of his girlfriends, publicly outed him on Facebook for leading a "double/triple life" and shared pictures of the couple.
"Chief Jason Collier is living a double/triple life," Steinmetz wrote on January 26, sharing pictures of the couple. "I was his girlfriend until yesterday. He lied to me and presented me with fake annulment documents when I found out he was married. I also found out about a second girlfriend, Kristi, last night. He lied to us, our children, and asked us both to marry him. He is a poor representative of your town."
"He would also visit me in Amarillo when he was on shift," she continued. "We had just returned from a vacation in Taos on Sunday, meanwhile, his other girlfriend was told he was on a work assignment in Portland, OR."
Kristi Shaffer dropped another bombshell when she commented underneath Steinmetz's post that she had also been dating Collier and that the pair had been engaged since December. This followed a third woman coming forward to say that she was dating the police chief, and a number of other women complained about having similar experiences after meeting him on dating apps, The Sun reported.

Collier's multiple affairs came to light after he was arrested for tampering with a government document. The 41-year-old subsequently resigned from his position at the Stinnett Police Department and sent an apology video to Steinmetz, which she later posted to Facebook.
“Hey. Sorry. I just feel like the biggest piece of s**t. Sorry,” Collier confessed in the video message. “I didn’t mean to hide anything or lie to you. Sorry. I’m so sorry. Please, I just want you to forgive me. I’m sorry. I’m sorry.”
Steinmetz reportedly confronted Collier about an anniversary post he wrote to his "beautiful bride" Opal -- with whom he has two children -- on his Facebook page.
"Happy Anniversary to my beautiful bride! I couldn't imagine doing this life without you," Collier's post read. "I know I fall short daily of being the Godly husband, but know I will work hard to be the man you deserve. God has blessed me with you and I can't wait to see what all He has in the works for us. Thank you for loving me, sacrificing for us, and walking this life beside me!" He added: "I love you Opal Sissie Koenig-Collier! Here's to many more years and memories to come."
Collier has been placed on administrative leave amid an ongoing investigation, according to the Stinnett Police Department.
