Jason Collier: Shamed Texas police chief gave same gifts to girlfriends before he was outed and forced to resign
A married Texas police chief who allegedly dated multiple women also gave the same gifts to them. Jason Collier was busted by one of his girlfriends who accused him of living a "double/triple life". Collier is already married and has four children, despite that he dated Cecily Steinmetz, Kristi Shaffer, and several others. Steinmetz revealed his real face on social media after she found that the 41-year-old was cheating on her. In the past, the Amarillo local had shared a romantic picture of her with Collier, but underneath that photo, Shaffer started commenting that she was also romantically involved with the police chief and they had been engaged.
Besides, when Steinmetz found a marriage anniversary post of Collier with his wife, she confronted him. But the man showed her a "falsified document" stating the marriage was annulled in 2016. Taking to Facebook, Steinmetz said, “Chief Jason Collier is living a double/triple life. I was his girlfriend until yesterday. He lied to me and presented me with fake annulment documents when I found out he was married. I also found out about a 2nd girlfriend, Kristi, last night. He has lied to us, our children, and asked us both to marry him. He is a poor representative of your town. He would also visit me in Amarillo when he was on shift. We just returned from vacation in Taos on Sunday - meanwhile, his other GF was told he was on work assignment in Portland, OR.”
Steinmetz and Shaffer have now also revealed that Collier even purchased them the same gift - a coffee maker. However, after Collier’s alleged infidelity came to light, he was put on administrative leave by the City of Stinnett. In a statement, City Manager Durk Downs said, “The City of Stinnett is aware of the current situation surrounding the Chief of Police Jason Collier. The city is taking this seriously and will be looking into any violations of city policy. Chief Jason Collier has been placed on administrative leave while the city investigates possible violations of city employment policy. As per city policy, we will refrain from commenting on any personal issues of personnel in a public forum.”
On Thursday evening, January 28, the City of Stinnett also stated that Collier resigned "effective immediately” and has been taken into custody on charges related to falsifying a government document. This comes after a video of Collier apologizing for his mistake was found on a Facebook page called ‘Victims of Jason Collier’. In the video, the man can be heard saying, “Hey. Sorry. I just feel like the biggest piece of s**t. Sorry. I didn’t mean to hide anything or lie to you. Sorry. I’m so sorry. Please, I just want you to forgive me. I’m sorry. I’m sorry.” It seemed he was on duty while recording the video since police radio can be heard in the background.
The video prompted a lot of reactions online with one saying, “Must be nice to want things...tough shit man!! Narcissistic behavior for sure!” Another one commented, “How you on the job fake crying? Man you supposed to be off work then do all that! Who are you apologizing to though? You have to say her name.” “Now if he- the top dog- carries on like this, imagine how the other cops within his dept behaves. Before I'm bashed for ‘lumping all cops together’, just think about it for a sec. His subordinates probably knew of the chief's lifestyle and covered for him on multiple occasions. They probably enjoyed having an "understanding" chief while they were making ‘house calls’ on the clock. I bet if investigators dig a little deeper, they'll find other victims...maybe even a few former female detainees with some wild stories of their own. Maybe my mind is running wild, but I highly doubt that the story ends here with just two, duped mistresses,” the third added.
