Will Jared Kushner get a Nobel Peace Prize? Internet slams nomination saying he 'learned from the sleazy best'
In what comes as pretty surprising news for many on social media, on Sunday, January 31, former White House senior adviser Jared Kushner and his deputy, Avi Berkowitz, were nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for their work on Middle East peace. Nominated by lawyer Alan Dershowitz, the duo is being recognized for normalization deals between Israel and Arab nations known as the "Abraham Accords".
Trump's son-in-law and Berkowitz were key figures in negotiating deals between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco. These were announced in a four-month span between mid-August and mid-December and were the most significant diplomatic breakthroughs in the Middle East in 25 years as the region braces for a prolonged confrontation with Iran.
At the same time, there are some complaints about the Morocco deal. President Joe Biden's administration is expected to review all national security deals reached during the Trump administration, including arms packages for the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. To bring the Morocco deal to fruition, the United States had to recognize Morocco's sovereignty over the disputed Western Sahara region.
It is safe to say that Twitter is quite surprised by this latest development, with many taking to the social media site to ridicule it. "If jared Kushner names is there so should Lucifer also be an option!" one succinctly put it.
"They’d be far worthier winners than the marxist, racist Black Lives Matter organisation. Who nominated *them*?" another concurred. Many others called it a laughable matter that someone like Kushner be nominated for such a coveted prize. "Creating fake "peace agreements" between countries not at war does NOT get someone a Nobel prize. This is laughable. I'm continually astonished at the egos of this depraved family. But they learned from the sleezy best."

For many on social media, Kushner's nomination is unfair especially in the face of those who work a great deal for peace. "Jared Kushner being nominated for Nobel Peace Prize by Alan Dershowitz is like you taking your cousin to the prom. Process needs major overhaul," one tweeted.
Many even called it a shame. "As long as somebody is able to nominate felons like Donald Trump and Jared Kushner for the Nobel Peace Prize, you can nominate an analphabet for the Pulitzer Price as well. It's a shame that these nominations are even considered."

Kushner might be nominated by will he win the prize? There are few barriers to being nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize: actually winning is a far tougher challenge. According to an article in DailyMail, any member of parliament of government or university professor, plus directors of foreign policy institutes, past recipients of a Nobel Prize and members of the Norwegian Nobel Committee can nominate a person or organization.
Former President Donald Trump left office on January 20, leaving behind more controversies than goodwill. This potentially impacts whether Kushner and Berkowitz would be awarded the Nobel at all. Kushner said in a statement he was honored to be nominated for the prize.
Many on Twitter went so far as to question the integrity of the award altogether. "@jaredkushner is nominated for Nobel Peace Prize for his role is Abraham Accords and Israeli-Arab relations, which is essentially a death sentence for Palestine. This further goes on to show that #NobelPeacePrize is nothing but a sham."
