While sharing that he hoped his grandson would survive, he said, "I took pictures and held Zen, his bright eyes had hope, and I always imagined him playing ball one day and growing up. I was like, 'Don't put no red tag on Zen, you have got to have hope.'"

James Cannon talked about the moment he received the news of his grandson's death. He said, "To get the news he passed was so sad, they were taking it day by day. Every day was different. They might have been given a time frame, but I think they were still praying for a miracle."

Alyssa Scott pens down a heartfelt note for his son Zen after he passed away on Sunday

In July, Nick's son Zen, who was born in June, started facing health problems. He had a congestion and when doctors measured his head, it was revealed that he had hydrocephalus. On Tuesday, the star fought tears as he announced the tragic news of his son's death on 'The Nick Cannon Show', leaving everyone heartbroken.

Nick and Alyssa welcomed their baby in June this year and in July, fluid started building up in his brain cavities which resulted in an increase in the size of his ventricles. Nick said that his son's tumor developed quickly around Thanksgiving. After their beach trip, Cannon was headed to New York for work commitments; however, he had to return after he got a call regarding his baby's condition.

James also said that they believed that things would turn around. "We're listening to the doctors, we see the child in pain, but we believed and have hope." Alyssa also addressed the loss of their family member on Instagram.

She wrote a heartfelt note as she shared a video compilation of her son's five months with them. She closed the caption by writing, "By your sister... By God. By complete strangers encouraging me to not give up. It has been an honor and privilege being your mommy."

Alyssa's mom wept as she told The Sun that Alyssa was having a hard time but she is strong and was the best mom to Zen. "She was never impatient with him. The family should be given some time to grieve the loss," she said.
